Nov. 4th, 2020

Total Paid Out: $5,964.00

Wrap Up

The 9 Tap Tour Hawaii Region kicked off the 2020 season at Ft. Shafter Lanes this past weekend and quite surprised with the turnout.  It shaped up into an exciting day of "Redemption" for one of our most supportive member.  There were 78 entries, paid 16 places with a total payout of $5,964.00; low to cash was 940 and an "Old Guy" gets back on the path to "Prominence".  Awesome Tournament!!

Mike Asuncion of Hawaii Bowling Supply kicked off our first tournament of 2020 by taking a commanding lead into the 1st and 2nd squads.  Our 3rd squad turned out to be a large one with 5 bowlers on every pair of lanes (7).

Ben Ballesteros Jr., winless for nearly 3 years, broke the jinx back in October of 2019 for title number 8.  It did not take him long to win title number 9 and start of the year"HAPPY".   There was some soul searching for Ben after a horrendous finish at our 2019 Year End Championship.  Ben thought that the only way to fix that was to get back on the lanes to "Practice".  Of course, I would have blamed it on the bowling ball and give it a way, that is how bad his score was at the tournament.  I believe his score was less than 140; hmmm, or was it 130; Oh! no it was less than 120.  Ben did exhibit "restraint and resilience", although I still would have given that bowling ball away.  After some okay scores in the final squad, Ben finishes with a rousing 9 tap 300, a total score of 1062 and picks up his 9th Championship title and $1,367.00. Terrence Fukuda and Paulette Kame'enui finished at 1025, in a tie for 2nd Place and a share of  $468.00 each.  Great Finish!!

Ben used a Storm Victory Road bowling ball drilled by Virgil Dela Cruz of Exxxtreme 300 Pro Shop.  Ben would like to thank his friends and family for cheering him on and the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on these tournaments.  Mahalo and Congratulations!

Progressive & 9 Tap Jackpot

Our 9 Tap Jackpot stands at $2,388.00 and the Progre$$ive Pot at $1,237.00.  Randy Kaea-Cook  provided some excitement by stringing 6 no taps in the final squad.  In the 7th frame, with his knees wobbling and hands sweaty, yanked his shot which missed the entire headpin.  For his effort, Randy picked up $250.00.  Congratulations, Randy!

Squad times have changed at Schofield Bowling Center to accommodate the Bowling Centers  "Cosmic Bowling".  The NEW Squad times are 11:00 am;  1:30 pm;  4:00 pm.

Please pass on the word to other 9 Tap Tour Members, greatly appreciated.
