Total Paid Out: $6,491.00

Wrap Up

UH & 9 Tap Wins!!!

It was another exciting tournament in which we had to compete with our winning University of Hawaii Football team and "HOMECOMING".  Turns out we ended with 88 entries; 18 places; cashers handicaps ranging from -9 to 65; low to cash at 895; paid out $6,491.00; and crowned yet another new Champion.  Our new Champion has been a member of the 9 Tap Tour since September of 2014 and a big supporter of the Tour.  It was flabbergasting to see entries grow as each squad checked in to bowl, resulting in increases in Prize Money and 1st place total win as well as increases to 2nd and 3rd places.  Is it worth coming out to our next Tournament  to be held at Ft. Shafter?  You go figure!

New Champion . . . .

As our Schofield tournament got underway, we figured that our entry numbers would be down because of the UH "Homecoming" Footballgame at Aloha Stadium but we were pleasantly surprised as our first squad had 24 entries.  The squad got underway and setting the bar high was leader Rodney Fujii (1020) followed closely by Daniel Asato (953)and Stephen Cid (908).  BOY Leader Brandon Benicta took command of the 2nd squad posting a nice 1000 score however just short of Rodney's 1020.  Following Brandon was Daniel Asato, holding on at 953, Tonja Jenkins at 918 and Ken Reynolds at 910.

The third squad put on quite a show as Richard Nagamatsu, Terrence Fukuda, Charles Cunningham, Kevin Asato and Rocky Otsuka all got into the mix only to ride the roller coaster "downhill".  Back in January of this year, Rodney bowled his heart out only to finish 2nd to Ricky Laguana.  This time he set the bar and it was left for others to beat.  Rocky O goes high in the first 2 games (266 & 280) then hit the skids and downhill he went.  Kevin A went up & down in scores and could not get the ship leveled.  Charles Cunningham started with a bad game, finished on a high but short of the leading score.  Terrence Fukuda was consistent but could not put together the "Big Games" and finished in 4th place.  Richard Nagamatsu in game one bowled a 169 but then put together three great games only to fall 14 pins short of Rodney.

Rodney Fujii's score of 1020 held on and gave Rodney his first title.  He used a Storm Invasion bowling ball drilled at Strike'em Bowling Pro Shop by Dan Maglangit.  Rodney thanks the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on "terrific 9 Tap Tournaments" throughout the year for its bowlers and members.  He also sends out a "Special Thanks" to our sponsors and to Storm for providing the tour with ball certificates; to Roy Yamanuha and Craig Oshiro for their support in maintaining his equipment. Champion Fujii plans on flying to Las Vegas for Family time and more bowling using his winnings.  Congratulations!  Rodney!!!
