Wrap Up

Schofield "Best 3 out of 4" . . .

Our 9 Tap tournament returned to action at Schofield Bowling Center for the tour favorite format “Best 3 out of 4” and again provided our members with excitement and close scoring.   The time change did not make a difference as Schofield produced 96 entries; paid out $7,159.00; 19 cashers; spreading the wealth among our members with a -6 to 63 handicap; and crowning another 1st time Champion in Terrence Fukuda, earning Terrence $1,654.00 and a Tour Shirt.

It started early with Newcomer Roy Cordero and Tri-Region Champion Stephen Cid posting a very nice score of 773 and the first squad lead tied.  Close by was Sue Stephens (768) and Champion Craig Bolling (753).  There were still a lot of members in the mix with the second and third squads yet to bowl.  The leaders remained the same as the second squad concluded.

The third squad put on quite a show as Mike Naehu, Ryan Kumai and Royce Lonoset the stage for Terrence Fukuda.  Back in April of this year, Terrence threw the front 9 "Natural Strikes", however, it's the fourth game; 9 natural strikes; the final frame and needing one more strike or no tap; Terrence would win the Ft. Shafter tournament.  Terrence goes high on the head pin and "Craig Bolling became the Ft. Shafter Champion"!  Does history repeat itself?

Ryan Kumai starts off strong, then tapers off in mid stream, then finishes strong again posting an 809 and the tournament leader.  Mike Naehu was Mr. Consistent as he rolled a nice series of 798.  Just could not get that "Big Game" finish.  Royce Lono goes front 9 in the fourth game, needs the 10th to wrestle the lead from Ryan but finishes high on the head pin and an 8 count.  Royce finishes with a nice set at 800.  Terrence Fukuda hasfour frames to finish however he needs a huge finish.  If he finishes at 286 he ties Ryan at 809.  To win he needed to go off the sheet for a 290 plus game.  Well, history did not repeat itself as Terrence goes off the sheet and a no tap 300, series 823 and claims his first title. Terrence Fukuda Wins!!!  Congratulations!!

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots

Our pots have increased and will make the  Ft. Shafter tournament more "Enticing".  The 9 Tap Jackpot has increased to $4,826.00 and the Progressive Pot to$1,558.00.  So, come out and join us at Ft. Shafter Lanes for our next tournament.  Again, Vergilio Repollo and Dez Mariani shared the No Tap Bonus with  4 No Taps good for $100.
