Wrap Up

Schofield Bowling Center

This past weekend, June 30th, we were back at Schofield Bowling Center where scores are usually low but close.  Once again, our scores held true as they were bunched together making the cutline low.  It was a day where the range of handicapping went from -4 to 60;  except for the winning score, the scores were moderate and bunched together; paying 15 places, 3 ties and only one 1000 score shot; the score of 910 was low to cash;  and the tour sports another first time Champion, “We simply had a great tournament and fun time”.

If Only . . . .

The pattern wasn't as easy as the scores indicated but some of our members made it look easy.  Scores were really low at the start with the 1st squad leader, John Hata, firing a score of 916.  What????  Yes, you read right, 916.  Of course, that score did not last for very long as Tomomi Shimabukuro put together four (4) steady games for a total of 964 and the 2nd squad lead.  Nicholas McDuffie couldn't make up his mind on which squad he was to bowl, however he opted for the 3rd squad.  With the leading score low and still beatable, there were several members still in the mix.

Our 2017 9 Tap Tour Bowler of the Year, Mike Yutaka started slow however a big game of 288 scratch put him back into contention.  His last game came up short and he settled in on the cash list; 2018 K-Bay Champion Richard Nagamatsu started strong but petered out with a tied score on the cash list; Eric Abarca and Marcus Jackson just could not pull in that one "BIG Score" but steady bowling put them on the cash list; Scott Amuro was on the way to his first title but "auwe! braddah had a flat tire!"; John Hata looking for his 4th title was "Mr. Consistent" all day but came up short; New Member Royce Lono, like "Mr. Consistent" also needed a big game but fell short; DJ Champion Ryan Kumai's first game was "Looooww" but finished up with some nice bowling scores, he too came up short; Randy Kaea-Cook and David Hancock both started great, fell in the middle games, then scored a very last good game only to finish in a tie for 3rd Place; New Member Tomomi Shimabukuro led after the 2nd Squad but could not hold on to her lead.  Nicholas McDuffie started very strong and did not let up as he shot the only 1000 score to win his 1st title and cashed in big, winning $1,449.00.

Nicholas used a Radical Katana Dragon, drilled by Wes Flores of Schofield Bowling Pro Shop for his 1st Title.  Congratulations, Nicholas!

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots

Our Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots are still large and will payout big for the next winner, as the Tour remains at Schofield for the tour favorite format, "Best 3 of 4".  The Progressive Pot increased to $1,429.00 and our9 Tap Jackpot goes to $4,584.00.  Winner of the 9 Tap Jackpot bonus dollars for Schofield's tournament went to Vergilio Repollo with 4 no taps and he picked up an easy $100.00.   See all of you at Schofield!!
