New Champion. . . . 

Another successful 9 Tap tournament concluded at Hickam Bowling Center this past weekend where our format was the Tour favorite, "Best 3 out of 4" and crowned a new Champion.  The scoring was just where we liked it, until the return of an "Old Member".  Low to cash was where the tour likes it, at 737. We saw a few BIG games Saturday, but those few bowlers were not able to string those big games together.  We had 61 entries; the range of handicaps of our members went from -6 to 63; paid 12 places; paid out $4,231.00; low to cash was 737; and paid 1st place $1,006.00. 

Ben Dela Cruz started our tournament on "Fi-ya", edging out Robert Gonzales 785 to 769 and the 1st squad lead.  Following close behind was Champions Craig Bolling (759) and Kelly Magsanay (757). 

Kelly Magsanay set out early and took command of the 2nd squad posting a nice score, edging out Grace Toguchi by 5 pins 794 to 789 and the 2nd squad lead.  With one squad left to go, Kelly's score looked insurmountable and a chance to win her second title. 

As the 3rd Squad got under way, Jon Charo, who last bowled in the 9 Tap Tour back in 2012, checked in late and did not get much of a chance to shadow bowl and used his first game as practice.  Jon had the "Right Combination" today, the right attitude and the right equipment.  Jon went out and just "Blitzed the field" posting a super best score of 862 and his first title.  Asked what he was going to do with his winnings, his answer “buy my son his Chicago Cubs bowling ball”.  "Thanks, Dad"!  Jon used a DV 8 Growl bowling ball drilled by Wes Flores of the Schofield Bowling Pro Shop.  Congratulations!  Jonathan Charo!! 

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots 

Our Progre$$ive Pot had a slight increase to $1,430.00 and the 9 Tap Jackpot remained huge at $5,090.00.  Ben Dela Cruz and David Hancock had 4 no taps and shared the bonus bucks of $100.  Next tournament at Schofield Bowling Center - Team Event
