Wrap Up

Another New Champion

It was such an exciting tournament in which we had to compete with our winning University of Hawaii football team.  Turns out we ended with 84 entries; 17 places; paid out $6,238.00; and crowned another new Champion.

New Champion . . . .

Competing with the UH football game at Aloha Stadium is tough because we don't know who will show or not, however we were pleasantly surprised as our first squad had 22 entries.  The squad got underway and setting the tone for the start of the day was Ben Ballesteros at 1016 followed closely by Rodney Fujii 982 and Glen Teramoto 952.

The second squad produced 29 entries and a new leader as Claudia Ferrari stepped up her game with fine score of 1042.  Francisco Rapis Jr. was close by posting a nice score of 1013.  Conway Marks got into the mix scoring a fine score of 968.

When the third squad began it was like opening up of the flood gates.  Producing 33 more entries, the lanes started to give a little and the scoring got a little higher.  Kathrine Marks got in the mix and made things interesting by going low, then high, higher and crash (984);  Rocky Otsuka goes high, little lower, lower, then boom, fell down (988);  Glen Lim got close but he couldn't put it all together in game four and ended with a nice score of (1026).  Giles Okada and Royce Lono were tied going into the final game at 799.  Giles started with the front 5 only to throw a split in the 6th frame and end his chance of winning his first title.  Royce Lono bowled steady in a clean fourth and final game to beat Giles by 11 pins and secured his place into the Tournament of Champions.

Royce used a Brunswick TMaxxx bowling ball drilled at Exxxtreme 300 Bowling Pro Shop by Virgil Dela Cruz.  He thanks his family (wife Joenelle, children Walu and Kahiao) for supporting him and his bowling.  Royce said that he "was determined to win for his family".   Congratulations Royce on your first Title.

Pro Pots . . . .

The 9 Tap Jackpot has taken another hit, this time by Desiree Mariani for $225 after posting 5 no taps.  This decreased the 9 Tap Jackpot from $5,446.00 to $5,425.00.  The Progressive Pot increased to $1,463.00.
