Ft. Shafter

July 28th, 2018

Total Paid Out: $6,402.00

Wrap Up

Ft. Shafter Lanes

There were 81 entries that paid 16 places, handicaps were spread out from -6 to 46; paid out $6,402.00 and 1st Place was worth $1,584.00.   Ft. Shafter has been one of our venues that puts out a pretty tough shot as the winning and cut scores would indicate.  However, this Ft. Shafter tournament  was described as "Fun times . . sweet shot . . lights out scoring . . record number of 300's rolled . . and lots of Cheering.."  It was a"HUGE STRIKE FEST".  What a"Production of Fireworks, finishing with nearly a Big Blast!".  It was such a blast that a 1043 score was under the cut line.  What was the cut score?

WOW!!!  The Fireworks starts early . . .

The "Fireworks/Strike fest" created a whole lot of  fun, excitement, very high scoring and it started from the beginning.  Eric Teramae started it all by setting the bar extremely high.  After the first squad, we thought that Eric had shot lights out with a score of 1105, a huge lead and that had everyone chasing him.  Well, it wasn't safe and his score not high enough.  Conway Marks was feeding off of the past week of bowling where he bowled well in league play.  Kepa (Conway) started and finished his first three games with a score of 794, then the lights went on and Kepa goes off the sheet with a no tap 300 (+ 324) to steal the thunder from Eric with an 1118 score.  Kekai Seabury wanted part of the show as he goes 884 after the first three games, however "brotha hit a 10 foot Moss Rock wall" and finished at 1097.  Kepa steals the second squad lead from Eric but it wasn't over, yet!

The third squad turned out  to be a shoot out with 4 no tap 300's bowled.  Juan Aponte reentered the third squad after a couple of splits prevented him from scoring high in the second squad.  Juan wanted another chance, another shot at the leaders and wasted no time in putting together super scores but a huge 4-7-6-10 split in his final game put him in the lead at 1126 for a very short period.  Meanwhile, Brandon Benicta is finishing his fourth and final game putting together back to back 300's and takes over the lead from Juan.  But wait, the Marks Ohana isn't through as both Kepa and Kathy has a chance to beat Brandon's score.   Kepa starts out his final game on fire but then a washout prevents him from taking back the lead.  Kathy on the other hand is going along just perfectly, needing to double up in the 10th frame, gets the first one but goes high on the head pin and leaves the 6-10 and finishes at 1123. Brandon Benicta wouldn't be denied his fourth title and his Yellow Championship shirt.

Mahalo! to the 9 Tap Tour for putting on these tournaments and giving the bowlers a chance to compete and making it "fun all around". Brandon used a Storm Match up bowling ball for his win drilled by Shane Gasper.  Congratulations!  Brandon.
