Ft. Shafter Bowl

Mar. 17th, 2018

Total Paid Out: $6,197.00

Wrap Up

Ft. Shafter Lanes

There were 90 entries, that paid 18 places and ties (21 cashers in total), handicaps were spread out from -9 to 60; paid out $6,197.00 and $1,490.00 for 1st Place at Ft. Shafter.  Our tournament Champion was new comer Raymond Thomas Stead IIRaymond, who prefers Thomas instead, said, "I've been feeling good about my game, after getting together with my coach, Randy Pederson, and have been bowling better.  I think I'm ready for today's tournament".

Well, as the day began, it was clear that scores were going to be close and at the end of the first squad, Defending Champion Brandon Panee left off where he started back in January, a nice score of 998 and became the first squad leader.  The second squad produced some good scores but the leader board remained the same with Brandon as the second squad leader.  Don Furuya shot 980 to put himself right behind Brandon with HBS Mike Asuncion(946) and Rocky Otsuka (944) following.  The third squadturned out  to be our largest squad with 38 entries and members taking shots at the leader.  The score of 998 was beatable and just waiting for someone to step up to the plate.

Terrence Fukuda was on his way to his first title shooting a 3 game set of 798 but hit a "Wall" and could not get over it for a 6th Place finish at 982.  Brennan Doane-Alcos started the third squad shooting a mediocre first game score (233) then flopped (196) came back with a Big Game (300) but could not finish high enough, a (261) and 5th place.  Bob Kailewa thought he was at"Disneyland riding the Space Mountain roller coaster" as he went high (284) then low (228), high again (262) and lower (221), shot 995 and a 4th place finish.  Brandon Panee finished at 998 for 3rd place.  Lloyd Fukuda was in control of his own destiny but a miss 9th frame in his final game cost him his first title and a 2nd place finish at 1001. Thomas Stead IIbegan the third squad with two nice games of 224 and 232, changed lanes and fired his first No Tap 300 (312), then followed that up with a 256 game and his first title with a score of 1024.  It was a demanding pattern and Thomas pulled it off.  Congratulations Thomas on your first title and a Storm Ball of Choice.  Thomas used an AMF Heat Stroke drilled at Randolph AFB by Jeff Harden.  Thomas thanks the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on these events and friend Sarah Hammond for all the support and cheering.

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots

Our 9 Tap Jackpot has grown to $3,156.00 and  our Progre$$ive Pot  stands at a "Huge" $1,482.00.   There was a three way tie for the 9 Tap Jackpot bonus bucks as Dennis Matthews, Susan Rosario and Grace Toguchi shot 4 no taps.  Bring a friend or family member and sign them up to bowl on your tour.  See all of you at Schofield!!

Hawaii welcomed Las Vegas Director David Page, who took in this past weekends tournament and was impressed.  We showed him a good time and hope the best for him and the Las Vegas Tour.

Frances and I had a pleasant visit with Storm's Western Regional Representative Lee Upps, who was also impressed with 9 Tap Tour Hawaii's showing at Ft. Shafter.
