Total Paid Out: $4,490.00

Wrap Up

First Time Champion. . . .

After a good tournament at Schofield Bowling Center, our 9 Tap Tour tournament returned to K-Bay Lanes for more excitement and close scoring.  Despite the issues at K-Bay Main Gate, we had a good turnout at K-Bay Lanes for the "Best 3 out of 4"  tournament and crowned another 1st time Champion.

Sam and Louise Ho were recruited by friend and bowling buddy, Kekai Seabury and joined the 9 Tap Tour in July of 2017.  Since joining, Sam and Louise has been staunch supporters of the 9 Tap Tour and also bowled in the Las Vegas Tour, where he finished well, placed and cashed.

Sam entered the 1st squad and started mediocre but Sam finished well and posted anice score of 763, right on the heels of 1st squad Leader Jody Loo's 770.  Close behind Jody and Sam was Charles Cunningham with a fine score of 739 and Kelly Magsanay a few pins back at 733.

Sam and Louise decided to reenter the 2nd squad and wasted no time letting the other bowlers know they came with aspirations of winning the K-Bay tournament.  Sam kept up the pace to outlast Jody and posted the first of two 800 series, 814 and leader of the 2nd squad; followed by 1st time Champion Claudia Ferrari at 786 and Kevin Asato's 784.

Sam and Louise did not think that Sam's score was going to be good enough to win and left for home in Waimanalo.  In the final squad, there were scores that got higher and as many as four members with a chance to beat Sam.  Rashidi Domville needed to post a 238 game to win his third title but fell short by 10 pins and shot an 804 series.  Lawrence Ambush had a shot going into the final game but fell short and finished in third place with a 795 score.  Brian Ishii had posted two great scores but fell back and shot a 790 series.  Claudia Ferrari was "steady and consistent" all day but her last game of 149 deflated her chance of winning her second title.

Since Sam lives close to K-Bay, we called and he and wife Louise returned to K-Bay to receive their checks.  For Sam, it gave him his first title earning $1,228.00 and Louise didn't go home empty handed, as she placed 9th and won $80.00.  Sam used a Roto Grip No Rules, drilled by Daniel Maglangit of Strike'em Bowling Pro Shop in Aiea.  Sam was asked did he have any special plans for his winnings, his answer was, "Yes, saving for a trip, maybe Vegas for the Regional Tournament".  Sam also wants to thank his children for Cheering them on and "Giving Our Good Lord all the Glory".  He thanks the 9 Tap Staff for the "support, guidance and cheering for Louise and I".  Congratulations, Sam on your first title!!!

Progre$$ive & 9 Tap Jackpot . . .

The 9 Tap Jackpot stands at $2,498.00 and the Progressive Pot fell back a little to $968.00.   Sue Stephens won herself a nifty $75.00 for putting together 4 no taps.

Our next tournament at Ft. Shafter will be the 4th Quarter tournament and the last tournament for members to qualify for the 2017 Dexter Year End Championship Tournament.  In order for a member to qualify for the Dexter Year End Championship, you have to bowl in 6 tournaments, 1 of which has to be bowled in the latter half of the current season.  The Year End Championship is a "Pre-Paid" event, so members who have qualified will have to pay for the Dexter YEC by December 14th.  Also, the last chance at the coveted "Bowler of the Year" will take place at Ft Shafter.  The race for the BOY is so close, it's anyones' chance to win.  Remember that the top 10 places will receive an award.  Hope to see you at Ft. Shafter.

Don't forget to "MARK" your calendar for our Second Annual Multi Regional Tournament being held on the "Ninth Hawaiian Island (LV)" January 26, 27 & 28, 2018 at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino.  Bowl against our sister regions, win and have fun!
