Schofield Bowl - October 10th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $4,070.00

Wrap Up

Another New Champion . . .

Another successful 9 Tap tournament concluded at Schofield Bowling Center  this past weekend, despite the worries we had of members thinking that our tournament was scheduled at Ft. Shafter.  The scoring was just at the level we like to see, where it took a 730 to cash and with only 4 bowlers topping 800;  paid out $4,070 but paid to first place $863.00 because our champion could only go into the $10.00 Progressive Pot .  We saw a few BIG games Saturday, but those few bowlers were not able to string those big games together.

New Member Patrick Thomas joined the 9 Tap Tour Saturday and made his presence felt as he goes out and posts a 757 score to lead the 1st squad, only to have it surpassed by Terence Guzman.  Terence bowled in the first squad but could not sustain his scoring so he decided at the last minute to reenter the 2nd squad and it was the best decision he made.  Bowling with Reggie Caneda, Terence finds his niche' after a first game throw away score and puts together 3 great games for a 2nd squad leading 842 score.  Randy Kaea-Cook had to discard a 245 but still shot an 812 score and earns second place.  Ray Mendes got into the mix with a nice 807 score to settle for third place.  Percy Ducosin also got into the mix of things but just couldn't get over the hump and had to settle for fourth place.   The pattern selected for the day was grueling and tough but Terence was steady and calm and finished as our newest Champion.

"I felt no nervousness but calm, hanging out with Reg Caneda and receiving some mentoring from Virgil Dela Cruz".  A very special thanks to Exxxtreme 300 for the support and supplying me with the right equipment;  to Mr. Kawika and the 9 Tap Staff for the fun and beautiful event; 9 Tap Tour Hawaii,  "YOU ROCK"! Those were the words of our newest Champion Terence Guzman.  Congratulations, Terence!!!

Progressive & 9 Tap Jackpot

There was quite a stir and excitement when, not only one but two members came close to breaking our 9 Tap Jackpot for $3,116.00.  Our leading title holder, who had broken the Jackpot for $4,900.00+ pay off, nearly broke the pot a second time.  After stringing 6 no taps (1st to the 6th frame), Ben Ballesteros got anxious and on his seventh frame (he looked so smooth down the approach, delivers the ball but Ha-La, didn't touch the head pin) choke city.  A pair of lanes right of Ben was Terence Guzman, who as well had the front six no taps and like Ben, missed the headpin.  Both bowlers had to settle for the $200 Bonus for 6 no taps and share it.  That  means our Progressive Pot will be big for the Ft. Shafter Tournament.  Progressive Pot stands at $1,125.00 and the 9 Tap Jackpot at $3,912.00.  Big Pots & Big Payouts await the winner(s).

Multi-Regional Tournament at Las Vegas

Plans are being made for the 1st Annual Multi-Regional Tournament in Las Vegas, pitting the Puget Sound, Las Vegas and Hawaii Regions.  Make your plans now for January 28 & 29, 2017.  The 9 Tap Tour hopes to have our members support this endeavor so that our Tour could grow larger.  It will be a fun time filled with camaraderie, good cheers and lots of $$$ (money).

Other News

Hawaii Region will start a Liaison Committee whereby we will get members involved in what's happening with the Hawaii Region.  Fran and I will get a mission statement out with nominations from the membership on who you would like on the committee to represent you, our members.

Our Year End Championship is soon approaching and along side of our tournament will be a 900 Global & AMF Matchmaker.  Exciting news because you could actually get fitted with a 900 Global or AMF bowling ball and use it in the YEC Championship.  For You Past Champions that would like to participate in the YEC 2016, you need to be active.  In other words, you need to bowl in one (1) tournament within 6 months.  Again, all Active Past Champions will get an automatic invitation to the YEC 2016.
