Hickam Bowl - March 19th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $3,417.00

Wrap Up

Calm and Cool Hata

After a successful tournament at K-Bay Lanes, the Tour moved to Hickam Bowling Center for the 1st Quarterly tournament, sponsored by 900 Global and AMF.  The tournament drew 51 entries10 cashers and paid out $3,417.  The cash list was so close we had two 1,000 score and low to cash was at 924.  It was just another exciting  tournament.  Dennis Matthews started the day posting a low score of 976.  With the lanes playing a little tough and not forgiving, scores stayed low all day.  The second squad got a little heated as John Hata set the first of two 1000 scores, firing a nice 1038 to lead the squad.  Shannon Saili, who has been MIA for a couple  of years along with the Imamura's, Allen, Kelsi and their beautiful baby, started the third squad with a bang but switched pairs faltered a little and could not get back the momentum to finish off solidly.  Shannon finished with the only other 1000 score, at 1005 and 2nd place.  In third place was none other than Daniel Toyooka-Lim at 994.  Our cash list had a great spread, -11 to 62 and scores ranging from  1038 to low casher 924.

John used a Storm Crux Pearl for his win and has RoyYamanuha to thank for drilling his ball.  He said, "it took me three games to figure out the pattern, so I reentered the second squad", and lo and behold, wins his second title.  It had been September 2011 since John visited the winner's circle, finally. John also would like to thank Sonya for cheering him on and the 9 Tap Tour Staff for a great job putting on the tournament.  John also won a 900 Global bowling ball(Respect), as did Shannon (Dream On) for his second place finish.  Congratulations, John!!!

On another note: the 9 Tap Tour would like to thank"The Olsen's" Hank and Cindy for planning their vacation to Hawaii around the Tour schedule.  They will be heading back to Alaska on Wednesday and the Tour Staff would like to wish them a "Safe Flight Home".  It was a great tournament for both Hank and Cindy as they both cashed bowling in our tournaments, Hank placing 2nd at K-Bay and Cindy 5th at Hickam.  Congrats!

USBC Ruling on Motiv Bowling Balls

Ladies and Gentlemen:  If you own Motiv bowling balls, you might want to read the following article with concerns about the Motiv Jackal and Jackal Carnage.

USBC (United States Bowling Congress) has revoked approval of two Motiv brand bowling balls and removed them from the list of balls approved for competition effective, March 15, 2016. The revocation comes after USBC determined that the Jackal and Jackal Carnage balls do not comply with current specifications and requirements in the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certifications Manual.
