Schofield Bowl - May 16th, 2015

Total Paid Out: $4,930.00

Wrap Up

Schofield Bowling Center . . .

Although there was heightened security on Schofield Barracks with long lines at the gates, we were still able to get a good number of bowlers to show at Schofield.  The 9 Tap Tour tournament at Schofield was a great success as we had 74 entries, a Cash List of 15 with the cut score at 918 and our averages ranging from -7 to 70.  There were lots of excitement on Saturday as our members put up some high scores but just couldn't put them together, except for 2 of them.  The Tour's newest 3 Time Champion is Virgil Dela Cruz.  It has been nearly 2 years since Virgil won his second title but he persevered through those times of changes in ball layouts and unconventional drilling and it paid off.

Blow by Blow!

Don Salamero set the tone early with a nice 918 score to lead the first squad but it was short lived.  As members cleared through the gates and made their way to the bowling center, our second squad became large.  Not only did the squad become large, so did the scores.   The shootout between Kevin Enomoto, Virgil Dela Cruz, Daniel Toyooka-Lim and Ed Estoesta put on a show of some great bowling and good scores.  At the end of squad two, Virgil took the lead and barely hung on to an 11 pin lead over Kevin.  Daniel made a valiant effort as did Edward but both came up a little short,  Virgil 1087; Kevin 1076; Daniel 1033; Edward 1015.  In the third squad, Allen Serapion started out like gang busters but after the lane change, fell by the way side and ended at 975.

Virgil wins his third title and earned his white shirt.  He used a Roto Grip SD73 Classic and drilled the ball himself.  Asked what was he going to do with his payday, he said “Pay bills and more bills!”  Virgil thanks the 9 Tap Tour staff for  running and assuring the tournament goes smoothly.  Also, a big Mahalo to the Exxxtreme 300 family for their support!  Virgil, owner of Exxxtreme 300 Pro Shop, is a staunch supporter of bowling here in Hawaii and the 9 Tap Tour is happy that Virgil and Rowena are sponsors of the 9 Tap Tour.  Congratulations on your third title!

Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots . . .

Our Progressive Pot increased a little and stands at $1,123.00.  The 9 Tap Jackpot is $7,159.00 and waiting for one of our Members to hit the“BIG BUCKS”.  Still big pots to win a whole lot of CA$$$H!!!  Randy Kaea-Cook won $150 from the 9 Tap Jackpot for his 4 No Taps this past Schofield tournament and Cora Naki-Souza won $300 for her 5 No Taps at the Pali Lanes Tournament, May 9.
