Total Paid Out: $4,828.00

Wrap Up

9 Tap Tour Extends . . .

Pali Lanes hosted last weeks' 9 Tap Tour, HI Regions 5th Anniversary Tournament, May 9, 2015.  It really has been 5 Years of the tour’s existence in Hawaii and how quick time has flown by when you're having "Fun".  We have signed on with 9 Tap Tour, Inc. for another 5 years, until 2020.

Along the way the Tour has picked up some staunch support from:  The Embroidery Gift Shop;  Hawaii Bowling Supply;  Exxxtreme 300 Pro Shop;  Gasper Bowling Supply; Spaghettini's in Haleiwa; and Audie's Auto Tech. Joining the 9 Tap Tour now is bowling ball manufacturers 900 Globaland AMF, along with Brad Edelman owner of High Roller Events.   We are looking forward to another exciting and fun filled 5 years.  Is there a 9 Tap Tour Nationals in sight?  Maybe . . . .

To those members who came out to Pali Lanes, Mahalo Plenty.  There were many prizes given out including two DV8 bowling balls and loads of fun.  Winning the balls were new member Reno Sullivan and Harry Adams.  In recognition of Mother's Day, women bowlers and significant others received an appreciation rose with baby's breath.

Traffic Back Log to Kailua

Despite the traffic jam into Kailua, our 9 Tap Tour tournament was very successful.  Traffic again was backed up on Pali highway, H-3 and H-1 because of the ongoing road repairs, accidents and of course the “Ua (rain)” did not help the traffic situation.  The slow traffic did not deter our members from coming to the tournament and we managed to keep the tournament on time for all squads.

Championship decided by "One Pin"

The Pali Tournament did not disappoint us as scoring was great!  We had 65 entries, 13 cashers and a 1st time Champion; scores in our “Beat the Board” format was exciting all day.  One could say that the scoring was high but it was soooo close.  The order of the day started with the leader and "Pali's Man Maid" DennisMatthews

at 1010.  Dennis didn't waste any time improving on his first score by posting a 1050 but it could have been better had he finished his second game with a 300 (instead of a 297) or been clean in his final game of the second squad to score a 218.  So, along came “Mr. Nice Guy”, Ian Benson, whose best
finish was a 3rd place at Hickam, put together steady games to wrest the lead from Dennis by a mere 3 pins, with a score of 1053.  But wait, nothing is over until its over.  As the third squad started,  another 9 Tap member was having his fun and games.  Thad Akiona was sending pins flying all over the lane and putting strikes together.  Although he had a low second game score he still had a chance of surpassing Ian.  Thad needed a score of 234 to win or 233 to tie, but Thad fell short shooting a 232 fourth game to miss winning the tournament by one pin.  Aunty Cora Naki-Souza also bowled very well to place 4th with a 1016 but the biggest win was her "5 No Taps" and $300 to go with it.  Congratulations Ian!  Ian would like to thank Exxxtreme 300 Pro Shop and Virgil Dela Cruz for drilling his IQ Nano bowling ball.  With his winnings, Ian is taking his family out to a nice dinner.

Our 9 Tap Jackpot decreased to $7,055.00 and the Progressive Pot to $1,010.00.  The pots are still large and waiting for one of our members to take home the “Bigger Bucks”.  Our next stop will be at Schofield Bowling Center on May 16, 2015 with no change in squad times, 12:00 pm2:30 pm; and 5:00 pm.
