Wrap Up

Three Week Break and Traffic Log on Pali Highway

Despite the “X-tra” long break and traffic jam into Kailua and Pali Lanes, our 9 Tap Tour was very successful.  Traffic was backed up for at least a couple of miles on Pali highway, and on a Saturday mind you, no accident, just the State messing around with us Locals.  The “Horrendous Traffic”, made it tough to keep the tournament start on time for all squads but we somehow managed to stay on time.

First time winner

This past week was just great in every way, as we had 74 entries, 15 cashers and a 1st time Champion; scores in our “Beat the Board” format was exciting all day.  High scoring was the order of the day as the first squad saw Allen Serapion (1092) and Dennis Matthews (1047) post nice scores; but the rumbling and talk of the day was 86 year old Paul Sur.  Paul joined the Tour back in August of 2010 and has bowled in nearly every tournament.  This weekend saw Paul shoot his very first “No Tap 300” and was smokin’ hot in his first 3 games, shooting scores w/handicap, 270 – 340 – 250 for a total of 860 and needing just a deuce to go along with his handicap would make Paul the leader but alas, Paul admitted that he got tired and posted 204 w/hdcp for a 1064 total and third place.   In the third squad, Zachary Yoza was “Mr. Consistency” with handicap games of 279 – 258 – 269 – 270 for a nice 1076 and second place worth $640.  Allen Serapion bowled a little better to post the winning score of 1092 and his 1st Title.  Nice going Allen! Congratulations!  Allen would like to thank his Ohana for all the support and encouragement the whole day.  Asked what he was going to do with his winnings, he said “spoil the wife and kids”.  Auryte, Allen!!

With this past weekend’s turnout, our 9 Tap Jackpot increased to $6, 164.00 and the Progressive Pot to $1,245.00.  The pots are still large and waiting for one of our members to take home the “Big Bucks”.  The 9 Tap Tour thanks Gasper Bowling Supply for their continued supportand sponsorship of the Pali Tournament.  Our next stop will be at Schofield Bowling Center on May 31, 2014 with no change in squad times,12:00 pm2:30 pm; and 5:00 pm.
