Hickam Bowl - October 4th, 2014

Total Paid Out: $6,747.00

Wrap Up

“FUN TIME”

A miscommunication with Hickam’s mechanic on the pattern for the day had most of our members drooling and having fun bowling.  The last time 9 Tap Tour had this much fun was over a year ago at Pali Lanes where records fell and we had 118 entries.  Hickam recorded 100 entries; paid 20 places; $1,810.00 for 1st place and a 1st time Champion.

The Tour's newest 1st Time Champion is Andrae Lara, who joined our tour in May of 2014.  Andrae didn’t have a pass to get on base so he called and requested to be sponsored onto Hickam AFB to bowl in the 9 Tap Tour tournament.  He and BFF Chris Roane entered the tournament and started their scoring, shooting 745 and 751 respectfully but was trailing 1st squad leader Sean Yamamoto (882) by 137 pins.  Andrae felt good about his game and reentered the 2nd squad.  Needing a huge score in game 4 because William Rich went lights out and recorded a short lived leading score of 907, Andrae shot 298 and with his handicap beat William by 3 pins, firing a 910 score. More excitement in the 3rd squad came from Kevin Miura and DuJuan Goodlow.   DuJuan put on a great showing finishing in 4th place with an 890 score.  Kevin Miura nudged DuJuan by a pin, putting on a bowling exhibition worth watching.  Kevin knew there was no chance of him winning the tournament but likes the Tour and its concept, bowled anyway.  Kevin shot scratch games of 297, 297, 300 (a 290 throw away score) shot an 894 – 3pins for an 891 total and 3rd Place.

Asked if he had any plans for his $1,810.00 winnings, he simply said“Nothing Special, jus a night out with the Ohana and save the rest”.  Andrae used a Storm Victory Road, drilled by Keith Odette of WLE Bowling Supply in Waipahu.  He thanks the 9 Tap Tour Staff and commented “the Tournament Staff are really nice and caring people . . .  who wouldn’t want to bowl in a tournament ran so well with an incredible Staff”.  Congratulations Andrae and thank you for those kind words.

“7 in the middle” increased; Side Notes

Our Progre$$ive Pot stands at $1,676.00 and the 9 Tap Jackpot at$7,088.00.  The consolation “Bonus $$” of 7 in the Middle will be increased from $750.00 to $1,000.00.  The pots are “H U G E”so invite your friends and Ohana to join your Tour and a chance at winning the “BIG BUCKS”.  Mario Talon was our No Tap winner this tournament posting 4 No Taps and taking home $150.00.  Just a “Side Note”, the USBC/OBA is holding another fundraiser for the Junior Bowling Program to offset some of the cost of sending our Junior bowlers to the Junior Gold Championships.  It will be a “Modified Doubles” tournament and the entry forms/blanks are out in the bowling centers on Oahu, so if you're interested, help by supporting our Junior Bowling Programs.
