Wrap Up

Pali Lanes Success:

A very successful 9 Tap tournament with 95 entries concluded at Pali Lanes this past weekend crowning a new Champion.  Scoring started fast as eventual winner, Dez Mariani, shot 1076, Jonathan Chaffin 1052 and Lani Ring with a 1017 to lead the first squad.  There were no changes to the top scores in the second squad but the excitement grew in the third squad when the check in table got swamped and ended with 45 entries for the squad.  First we had the Roberts Tour gang and Ohana having a “Grand Ole Time” that became “Infectious” to all the members around them.  Secondly, we experienced one of our “Biggest Squad” as Fran and her staff checked in 45 bowlers, which led to opening up our buffer lane for the last squad and having 7 bowlers on a few pairs.  Whew!  It became busy real fast, a good busy.  Checking in was “Old Timers”, Kevin and Audrey Becera (Tour Champ and Son, Scott is away serving our Military) and Zachary Yoza.  Welcome and Great to see you back!

In the third squad, Chris Takahashi came out slow but started smokin’ with a 3 game set of 794 but then got exhausted in game 4 and finished 1001 for an 8th place tie.  Chris also had the “7 in the middle” going with 6 no taps but left an 8 count and got a nice pat on the back.  Jonathan Chaffin also had 6 no taps but like Kevin Miura simply ran out of frames.  Ken Reynolds had a great set going but told me, “I was not in shape to finish and ran out steam”.  That left Emory Carrick, the lone bowler that had a chance to unseat our leader, Dez Mariani.  Needing a 278 game, Emory made a crucial mistake in game 4, shot 261, and was 16 pins short.

The Tour’s newest Champion, Desire’e Mariani (Dez)joined the tour at its inception, May 2010 and her best finish was 2nd place at Barbers Point.  She thanks her special fans and the whole 9 Tap Tour Staff for their “Support and Love”.  Okay, here is the Odd thing; normally every bowler knows what kind of ball they are using and who drilled the ball.  Well, my niece blames her Uncle (me) for not knowing what ball she was bowling with and who drilled it.  You go figgah!  So I asked her what are you going to do with her winnings, she said “Pay Bills”.  But on FB she posted Matsumoto’s Shave Ice and Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck with the Kaea Clan minus Uncle????  Awwwryte!!  Dez, about time!!!   Congrats!
