Wrap Up

Ft. Shafter Lanes Soft

High scoring was the term of the day at Ft. Shafter this past weekend as the 9 Tap Tour Hawaii crowned another 1st time winner.  Ft. Shafter is usually our toughest lanes to score on but this weekend gave in to some very nice scoring.  Although the scoring was a little on the high side, scores on the Cash List came from a full range of averages, 0 to 54, with most of the cashers at mid range handicaps, ranging from 18 to 43.  Last month, the Tour gave away $1000 to Ray Allen for 7 No Taps in the Middle.  Mar Esta put together 5 No Taps and won the 9-Tap Jackpot Bonus of $300 in this past weekend's tournament.  Here is a great story line; Raymond Seabury didn't feel like bowling in this past weekend's tournament but his son, KJ, encouraged him to bowl and the rest is history.  Raymond placed 5th on the cash list and shot a No Tap 300 and received his No Tap Patch.

First Quarter Champion

The Tour's newest 1st Time Champion is Daniel Toyooka-Lim, who also came close at the Schofield Tournament earlier this month, placing 2nd.   Daniel was on fire from the onset and made everyone chase him and that they did, as Kevin Miura and Terrence Fukuda came in range of taking away Daniel’s first win.  Kevin was at 836 after 3 games but couldn’t get any breaks and finished with a nice 1073.  Terrence was at 824 after 3 games and then fell apart in the last game but still shot a nice score of 1042.  Daniel’s score of 1103 was good enough to ward off Kevin and Terrence.  Daniel’s win also made it a family affair as he and Dad, Glenn Lim, became the first father/son duo to win Titles.  So now Dad has no more bragging rights.  Daniel used his Colombia Messenger, drilled by Darin Villegas at Strike’em Pro Shop for his win.  He plans to save his $1,472.00 Winners share for Good Food and Good Eats!  Daniel is employed with the DOE as a Teacher and asked us to thank Mom and Dad for their support and coaching; and the tour staff members for putting in all the hard work to assure the tournament ran smoothly.  Mahalo Daniel and Congratulations on your first title!  Daniel also received a Colombia Wicked Encounter for winning the 1st Quarter Championship.

Big Weekend for Puget Sound

Our Sister Organization, 9 Tap Tour Puget Sound had an Amazing and Exciting tournament this past weekend. There was a Massive assault on their 9 Tap Jackpot as bowlers were stringing 6 strikes in the front and the middle only to be out done by fellow member Earl Kleist stringing 7 No Taps in the front for a HUGE payday of $7,730.  Not to be outdone, fellow member Mitch Vernon threw the front 11 Natural Strikes only to leave a tap and a Natural 299 score.  Hawaii’s 9 Tap Jackpot stands at $7,042.00 and Progressive Pot at $1,510.00.  The pots are still large and waiting for one of our members to “Strike It Rich”.  Brandi Yamasaki and Kevin Miura were winners of the Ft. Shafter Tournament this weekend but missed the group photo.
