Total Paid Out: $6,670.00

Bowlers Appreciation

Wrap Up

Schofield Highlights

What a Fantastic 9 Tap Tournament we had this past weekend, as we celebrated Hawaii’s Bowlers Appreciation Day at Schofield Bowling Center. Records were set as the tour had its second 100+ entries.  The first was at Leeward Bowl with a 119 entries and $6,452.00 paid out that day.  The 108 entries this past weekend set a record pay out of  $6,670.00, plus the giveaways in appreciation of your support.  Another record set was in the 1st and 2nd squad with 35 entries each.  In the last squad, we had 38 entries to total 108 for the day.  There was fun and fanfare throughout the day as we had an ATTACK on the 9-Tap Jackpot, when Brian Pineda strung together the front 6 no taps only to miss the entire HEAD PIN.  Brian said “the ball came out of his hands too fast”, Yea, A Huh!  After the last squad, Brian confessed that the 7th frame shot was harder than the 12th frame natural 300 game he shot.  Well after all, that 7th frame was worth $6,016.00, though for his efforts, Brian did pocket $500.  Lopaka Rose was dancing on the lanes after throwing 7 natural strikes.  He asked Art what does he get for 7 naturals and Art walked up to him and gave Lopaka a pat on the shoulder, said good job.  Welcome back Lopaka Rose and Kathy Koch, Ron and Dawn Daquip, it is great to see you all on tour.

Matthews Wins First

We crowned another 1st time winner in Dennis Matthews.  Dennis joined our tour back in September of 2011 and has been close but always the bridesmaid until this past Saturday when he finally stepped into the winners circle.  In fact, his score of 1018 was the only 1000 shot all day.  Scoring was at a premium on Saturday as low to cash was 891.  Curtis Iha, who had an outside chance of beating Dennis needed all his strikes but had to settle for 2nd Place.  In 3rd Place was Josh White with a nice set at 971.  Dennis says “I am just lucky to be able to win my first no tap tournament”.  He used a Storm Fireroad ball drilled by Wes Flores at Exxxtreme 300.  He also wants to thank Art and the 9 Tap Tour Staff for putting on these tournaments.  Congratulations Dennis on your 1st Title.

Our Final tournament of the year was a major success and thanks to our members for supporting the 9 Tap Tour.  In appreciation for that constant support, Hawaii Region and its sponsors celebrated the final tournament with giving away balls, equipment and mystery prizes.  Winners of Bowling Balls were:   1st Squad:  Chaz Castro; Chris Ramones; Jody Loo:  2nd Squad:  Vergilio Repollo; Josh White:  3rd Squad:   Randy Kaea-Cook; Audie Saili.  Winners of Two Bag Tote:  1st Squad:  Chris Takahashi; 2nd Squad:  Don Furuya; 3rd Squad:  Virgil Dela Cruz:  Winners of the Mystery Red Envelopes:  1st Squad:  Virgil Dela Cruz; Lani Ring; Dave Pickering; Brandon Panee; 2nd Squad:  Ron Loo; Susan Nishino; John Hata; Michael Saiki; 3rd Squad:  Eric Abarca; Chuchi Cruce; Lopaka Rose; John Hata; Sam Malama; Ben Ballesteros.

900 Global Bowler Of The Year (BOY)

The competition for 900 Global Bowler of the Year (BOY) was close until Ben Ballesteros won his second title back in August.  After that date, Ben put his foot to the metal and distanced himself from everyone.  Ben's closest competitor was Solomon Chung Jr., some 65 points behind.  Ben will receive his “Green” BOY to go with his Championship shirts.  Congratulations Ben for a great year, 1 Title and Bowler of the Year.  Thanks to 900 Global for their great support and sponsorship of our Tour and Bowler of the Year.

The 9 Tap Tours Progressive Pot will be extra large for our next Tournament, January 12, 2013.  The Progressive Pot stands at $1,801.00 and the 9 Tap Jackpot at $7,406.00.  To our members, just a short reminder that if you don’t have a collared or mock shirt with the 9 Tap Tour logo on it, Verna Rapez of Embroidery Gift Shop can help you.
