Schofield Bowl - September 8th, 2012
Total Paid Out: $5,172.00
The scoring was again within an ideal target range, with scores on the Cash List coming from a full range of averages, 0 to 55, with most of the cashers at mid range handicaps, ranging from 13 to 25. There were FIVE (5) members at 4 no taps until the last squad when John Lavery put together 5 no taps, which was enough to capture the 9-Tap Jackpot Bonus this week for $300. This is the second straight tournament that we had a member bowl 5 no taps, Dave Pickering did it at Ft. Shafter.
The Tour's newest 1st Time Champion is BigDon Furuya, who also came close at the Hickam Tournament last month, August, placing 2nd. This time he continued his improvement and climbed into the #1 spot. The Win didn't come easily and without a little drama, as Don is coming off of knee surgery 6 months ago. He was in strong in the first game but then faltered in game two and three but fought back with a nice fourth game and finished with a 1044. That put him just ahead of Brandon Hee, who finished with a 1016 and 2nd place, good for $697. A couple of breaks here and there would of made the difference forMario Talon, as he posted a 1012 for 3rd place and $270. Don used his Hammer Arson Pearl and a Roto Grip Nomad Pearl, drilled by Danny Maglangit and Darin Villegas at Strike’em Pro Shop. He plans to save his $1,553.00Winners share for Las Vegas. Don is employed with the Safeway Stores for 24 yrs. and asked us to thank friends and tour members Sidney Remigio, for keeping him focused, Laura Samson, for joining him at the tournaments, non-member Thomas Ching for coaching and the gang at Strike’em for the drilling and keeping the clubhouse open. CONGRATS Don on Win #1! Just a reminder of our Dress Code. We want everyone to look Professional. Mahalo Plenty! |
