Ft. Shafter - November 17th, 2012
Total Paid Out: $4,604.00
Kawika wins First Title Kawika Gilman, from ‘Nalo (Waimanalo), took time off from his Robert’s Hawaii Tours job on Saturday to bowl at Ft. Shafter with Lopaka Rose but “Auwe” Lopaka was a “no show” and missed out on his friend, David’s first WIN! Although, David became a new member and put in $10 in the Progressive Pot, he still took a big payday of $1,137.00 to the bank. In his words “It was exciting, fun, lucky and a much unexpected moment for me at the same time. I know in my heart who is responsible and I am not ashamed to thank Our Father above for all he bestowed on me, Amene”. Us guys no shame too! Congratulations! David bowled really well, as he posted the best score of 800 for the day. Kevin Asato was the only member close to David. Kevin posted a 795 score and 2nd place, which was worth $684. Vergilio Repollo started the day with a nice 782 score coming out of the first squad and watched it hold up through the second squad but had to settle for 3rd place and $345.00 Ft. Shafter Winners
Ralph Collier 300 Patch; Lauralyn & Chris 3 No Taps; Brandon Oshiro 300 patch Tom Pedro Champion Shirt Best 3 out of 4 Winners: l to r, back row: R. Collier; B. Witkowiak; B. Pineda; K. Asato; D. Neizman; front row: D. Corpuz; V. Repollo; S. Remigio; D. Gilman Best 3 of 4 a Success Another successful 9 Tap tournament was held this past weekend at Ft. Shafter with the format being “the Best 3 out of 4” and it was a nice change of pace for our members as it produced 77 entries, big payouts, 15 cashers and a first-time champion. It was a fun filled time with our members and with those who have been missed from our tournament play for awhile, nice to have them back. Receiving their Championship Shirts were first time Champions Thomas Pedro, Virgil Dela Cruz and two time winner Dwayne Corpuz. Progressive & 9 Tap Jackpots Our Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots have increased and should give a sizeable payout to the winner. The Progre$$ive Pot is very large and stands at $1,824.00, our 9 Tap Jackpot is also at a very high $7,582.00. The tour is returning to Ft. Shafter Lanes, so if you want to get in on the “Large Payouts”, be there. Chris Takahashi and Don Furuya were tied with 3 no taps and split the bonus. We had an excellent and fair range of Champions and Cashers this tournament, just as it's been so many times this year, with each skill level of bowler, well represented. Happy Thanksgiving! The 9 Tap Tour, Inc. has truly experienced an amazing year of bowling, an incredible increase in memberships, entries and large sums of payouts. Hawaii’s membership has increased 45% from 2010; entries/tournament has increased a mild 11%; and the total payout to date $108,129.00 with our 1st place winners averaging $1,319.00. Imagine that, in 2010 we had FOUR $1000.00 winners; in 2011, EIGHTEEN; 2012 produced $1,000.00 winners EVERY TOURNAMENT. YES!! IT is an INCREDIBLE Year for the Hawaii Region. Well, after two and half years, our suspicion of the 9 Tap Tour succeeding and giving bowlers on Island an alternative type of bowling competition was “right on”. Thank You All for your continued Support! |
