Tournament Wrap Up
Fantastic Wow! There was an added flavor at Pali this weekend as the tour had its second visitor from our parent club, Puget Sound Region. Joining the Hawaii Region Tour was Gary Van Ness from Renton, Washington. Gary was here visiting his son, who lives in Kaaawa and works in downtown Honolulu. "Whoa! Brah! Cannot get anymore country than Kaaawa", anyway Ano ai ke Aloha! Gary (welcome). Fantastic scoring was the item of the day at Pali Lanes this past weekend. The flood gates and lanes opened up giving all our members a shot at the 9 Tap Tour Hawaii championship. Hawaii has experienced a number of bowlers (6) cracking the 1000 scoring mark in a single tournament, but nothing like this past Saturday. The first and second squad produced two bowlers breaking the 1000 mark, only to have the third squad break all records with 9 bowlers scoring a 1000. First Title Our newest Champion is Eric Dela Pena of Waipahu. Eric was on fire from the onset and blew by the field to register his first title and winning $1,234. His score of 1099 was good enough to hold off Larry Martin (2nd place $420), our newest member, at 1056 and Randy Kaea-Cook’s 1048 (3rd place $278). Eric is quite the sportsman; listing his hobbies and activities as playing basketball, volleyball and softball. Asked what he was going to do with his winnings, he said “Christmas Shopping”. Our Final Tournament is this Saturday, December 17, and figures to have a great turnout. Our Progressive and 9 Tap Jackpots are still high and ready to be given to a worthy bowler. It has been a couple of tournaments that no one has hit any consolation prizes from the 9 Tap Jackpot and if you haven't noticed theCONSOLATION PRIZES were increased from 4 no taps $50 to $75; 5 no taps $100 to $150; and 6 no taps $150 to $250. So, mark your calendar for this Saturday, then come out and join the fun. |
