Bowlero Acme
February 29th, 2020

Total Paid Out: $7,985.00

Wrap Up

What a day at Bowlero Lynnwood as our first ever 'Leap Year' tourney had plenty of exciting storylines!  Included in those stories were a couple of Jackpot near misses, an unforgettable punch in the gut for the runner-up, a total of $750.00 paid out in the Jackpot and to top it all off, our Champ had $0 in the Progressive pot, making way for one of the biggest carry over's we've seen in quite some time!

We'll start off with the Jackpot as Phil Taylor & Zac Clute both had near misses by hitting six of the front seven taps on a day when we were paying everyone who hit the first two an instant $10.00!  Phil wound up hitting the front four to join Karol Knight & Joe Fincher, Jr. each earning the $150.00 consolation.  When all was said and done, the 'Front Two' $10.00 promotion was paid out THIRTY times!  Here is as list of the winners and thanks to Donnie Roberts for carrying around that wad of 10's, making the list and some of the payouts:

James Black (twice), Kannha Tong, Karol Knight (twice), Earl Kleist, Huyen Thai (twice), Phil Taylor, Dan Mathews, Zac Clute, Daniel Lee, Thang Thai, Virginia Aguilar, Lisa Seifert, David Taft-Farren, Jon Schneider, Andy Snow, Brett Schaaf, Golden Powell, Tim Fierro, Donnie Roberts, Jeff Scott, Stan Tappe, Chris Andreula, Bob Rouse, Joe Fincher, Jr., James Pippin and James Strand.  Congrats to all!

After a couple of weeks with higher than usual scoring, we got back to a little taste of normal with a lower Cut-Line of 905 and just four bowlers who were able to break 1000.  James Strand was coming on strong at the end of the day, but ran out of frames as he shot 1008 while looking for his 5th career win.  Right ahead of Strand was Dan Watts, who spent all day with us, trying to figure his best approach to the pattern.  Dan, who was also looking for title #5, saved his best for last as he fired 1009 in the final squad to finish third for $519.00.  Up next was that "unforgettable punch in the gut" we mentioned earlier as Joe Fincher, Jr. was poised to earn his 4th win and his first in more than six years!  After starting with 255, 266 & 222 games, Joe knew what he needed to  shoot 1040 where our leader was sitting...simply shoot 225 scratch (243 w/hdcp) to tie for the win...With just a frame to go, "It's simple", Joe said to himself,  "just double in the 10th and you've got this!"  So he stepped up, fired off one of his best shots all day and the result was inconceivable!  That's right,  cost him the title!  Tough break, Joe, everyone feels for you, especially with this untimely split!  Everyone, that is except for maybe the guy you were trying to catch...

Stan Tappe and his wife, Erma have been with the tour since 2009, Erma has two titles from 2018, but for Stan, winning has been elusive up until now.  This week, he put it all together shooting 1040, dodging Joe's run late in the day to get the win!  Matt Surina drilled Stan's 900 Global 'Respect Pearl' ball back when he had the pro shop at Daffodil Bowl and Stan was quick to acknowledge Erma for rooting him on.  When we had him fill out our questionaire, he didn't have much to say other than he had "Lot of luck!", adding that he bowls in a senior travel league which stops at multiple houses in the northern I5 corridor, including Bowlero Lynnwood, Glacier, Spin Valley, Kenmore & Angel of the Winds.  Stan usually does not invest in the Progressive Pot and this week was no different, so he earned a straight $1,000.00 for the win which he said he'll use for a "New ball or two!".  Congrats Stan!

Now, because Mr. Tappe wasn't invested in the Pro pot, it will be MASSIVE next week as we head to Skyway Park Bowl!  It's been quite some time since the pot was over $3k and we'll have it at $3,140.00!!!  Hope to see everyone there!
