Kent Bowl
Aug. 18th, 2018
Total Paid Out: $6,989.00
First off, we want to thank our host this week, Kent Bowl and congratulate them as they celebrate their 60th Anniversary in business!!! Today (Sunday), they are having a celebration, including 'roll back the clock' prices on bowling among other good stuff...So, if you're out and about, please stop by Kent Bowl for some fun and to congratulate them! With the 'Best 3 of 4' format in play this week, we had 102 total entries and paid out 20 spots on the Cash List with the on target Cut-Line at 729. After the Jackpot was hit last week by Andy Snow atSecoma Lanes, we didn't think we'd see him this week as he was somewhere out of town bowling. To our surprise, he showed up late in the day and we were ready for him as we paid him his Jackpot Prize of $6,265.00. Congrats again Andy! Donna Columbo was able to hit the Front FOUR taps, taking home the $100.00Consolation...Good work, DonnaBonnaBoBonna! Andy Snow collects his Jackpot money! It was also nice to see a few folks that we hadn't seen in awhile, such as Pearl (& Ray) Sedeno along with Gary Van Ness who said we likely wouldn't see him bowling again as he is battling some health issues. Gary, don't be a stranger! We will miss you, we wish you well in your battle and hope to see you again soon! Gary Van Ness & Pearl Sedeno For the 'Best 3 of 4' we had four bowlers breaking 800 includingMartin McElroy's 800 EVEN as he edged out Oscar Gestoso by ONE pin, who, in turn edged out Reuben Pedro by ONE as well. David Kim had been in a slump for first half of 2018, but the five bonus pins he'd accumulated had been eroding away over the last several weeks, but he's now back on track as Saturday he started slow, improving with every game, ending with a 278 (scr) which was enough to earn him an extra $260.00 from the Scratch Pot, netting him an over $700.00 pay day! Newcomer, Edd Smith made his presence known on Tour as he had his a slew of Personal Bests including his Highest Finish (2nd), Highest Game and Highest Series by 81 pins. Edd's payout was $907.00. Way to go Edd!!! This week's winner not only won, but ran away with things after a3rd Squad 862 set! James Websterhad his good luck charm Gennie with him and got locked in early and finished like a Champion with his highest ever game on Tour...a 277 Scratch!!! James' Title is his 2nd, both coming this Summer (HiJoy) so it's safe to say he's on fire! Oddly enough, James would have been away at sea with the Merchant Marines, but a very unfortuante health issue has kept him home. He said that when he woke up Saturday morning, Gennie asked him what he wanted to do and he said "I want to bowl!" Well, Sir...We're glad that you did! James was wearing his Dexter Shoesand used his 900 Global 'Desert Ops' ball and was sure to point out that he's motivated by his #1 fan & supporter, Gennie. Congrats, James! Odd Stat of the day: Saturday was a palindrome (8-18-18), and just by random chance, James' winner's check was for $2,018.00. Shout out to James Keough from Bowl Arena at JBLM, who completed a rare feat by cashing in his first Tour event, shooting 779 for 10th Place! Congrats! |
