Secoma Lanes

With the year's end quickly approaching, we begin with a shout out to Huyen Thai! For the FOURTH straight week we crowned a Champion who showed up with their 'A+' game and basically ran away from the field. EnteringSaturday, Huyen remained in aVERY tight race with Earl Kleist in the 'Bowler of the Year' race with his brother,Thang Thai right on their heels! Incidently, all three were in the Top 7 this week! Huyen didn't do anything to hurt his lead in the standings as he tossed FOUR very strong games in the 2nd Squad crushing his career best (by 32 pins) with a MONSTER 1109! More on Huyen (below) With 129 entries at Secoma Lanes on Saturday, 26 bowlers made another very diverse Cash List with handicaps ranging from -2 to +67 pins. We had many very nice scores, a perfect 932 Cut-Line with SIX breaking 1000 and another FOUR very close with 998 or 999. Michael Leemoui finished in a tie for 7th place this week and entered the 10th frame of his last game having a shot at $500 as he had SIX straight 9 taps going in...Sadly, Mike was just off on the 'money shot' as our Jackpot consolation netted $40.00 each for Dale Coleman, Pete Wood, Bob Rouse and Samson Ibale as they all hit the front FOUR. With that, the Jackpot increased to $6,168.00, its high water mark for the year! 2011 'Rookie of the Year' Carl Nichols made the trip south from near the Canadian border (Blaine, Wa) and made it very much worth his while as he wrapped up his day with a 298 scratch game on his way to a HUGE 1052 series and 2nd Place! Carl earned $875.00 for 2nd and another $142.00 from the Scratch Pot! Great bowling, Carl! 3rd Place this week is Collin Young who joined the Tour back in March when Huyen earned his last title at Pacific Lanes. This (perhaps) makes Collin a good luck charm for Huyen? Whatever the case, Young's 1040 series was highlighted by his first 300 no tap game on Tour as he earned $448.00! Nice work, Collin! Let's get back to our Champ, Huyen...The $1,938.00 1st Place check puts him just over $24,000 in career earnings, edging him closer to the '$25,000 Club'. Huyen wears Dexter shoes and throws arguably the straightest 15-pound ball this side of the Mississippi, yet has an arsenal of Robert Kelley drilled Storm balls that might make even some of those on the professional tour jealous! He wanted to thank his friends on "The GREAT Tour", especially his brother, Thang and said to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! Congratulations!
