HiLine Lanes
Mar. 4th, 2017
Total Paid Out: $7,659.00
Although we kept the same oil pattern as we had at our last HiLine Lanesvisit, there was a new type of oil thrown into the mix on Saturday and the scores jumped up a bit. One bowler, in particular decided that he liked the change...A LOT!!! If you'll read on, we'll talk about this particular bowler further down in the newsletter.
With another nice turnout, there were 119 total entries, 24 bowlers making the Cash List with Amy Salmo and Dan Grass rounding out that list with matching 954's. After having a FOUR-way tie at four 9-taps, Huyen Thai earned $100.00 late in the day by hitting the front FIVE for the 9-Tap Jackpot consolation. The Jackpot made a significant jump over the $2k mark and now sits at $2,194.00 as we head to Pacfic Lanesnext Saturday.
After a somewhat tough 2016, Bob Rouse was voted into the 'Hall of Fame' as the Club's newest member. Bob opened this year on a much better note as he has been on a nice streak with FIVE straight cashes. Although his streak ended this week, he was ever so close just missing the Cash List by two spots and only FOUR lousy pins!
Talk about drama! Saturday had multiple bowlers with opportunities to steal the Title away from our eventual winner but the final frame proved to be catastrophic! Bill Jones had a chance, Brian Peters had a chance,James Strand had a chance and probably most costly 10th frame of the day belonged to Jeremy Truitt as a shot which didn't look all that bad, wound up as a split costing him the win for sure! Jeremy's 1036 set wound up giving him 2nd Place and a $915.00 pay day. Bill Jones was pretty disappointed at the end of the day as his 3rd Place 1031 was good enough to get him $458.00 while 1st squad leader, Brian Kuykendall's (1018) and James Strand's (1017) rounded out the 1000+ performances. Leon Bemis also had a good performance as he shot 997, finishing just outside the Top 5.
Roland Jarata rose to the occasion this week as he earned his 7th TourTitle firing a 1047 set in the 2nd squad! As if that wasn't good enough, he felt on such a good roll, he reentered for the final squad and nearly beat his previous score with a 1024 for good measure! Roland earned $2,039.00 for the 3rd of his 7 Career Titles to take place at HiLine Lanes. As we approach The Tour's 15th Anniversary, it's nice to see another original Tour member score a Title, making it back to back original member wins with Martin McElroy winning last week atSecoma Lanes. Roland's last title came way back in 2014, but that doesn't show his TWELVE Top Five finishes in that span, nor does it show that he already has 2nd & 3rd Place finishes in 2017! Impressive, Mr. Jarata! Great day for the Jarata's as Roland's son, Ajaya Jarata also had a fine day with a 9th Place 982!
