West Seattle Bowl
July 23rd, 2016
Total Paid Out: $5,893.00
West Seattle Bowl hosted The Tour this week as we duplicated last weeks turnout with 96 Entries and 19 Bowlers making their way to the Cash List. With the 'Cut-Line' at 923 and the winner being the only one to break the 1000 Series mark, scores were right on target! As we entered the final game of the 3rd Squad, not one bowler had hit even the front three 9-Taps, although Donna Columbo did hit six of the front seven. We'd have to dig deeply into the archives to see when the last time we had a Tournament where there was no 9-Tap Consolation awarded. However, with Huyen Thai hitting the front three in that fourth game and then Will Cotton along with Steve Bowyer joining the party in the Final Squad, the three of them earned $25.00 apiece. The 9-Tap Jackpot is now slowly rebounding from the recent thrashing it has taken as it jumped back over the $1,000.00 mark and sits at$1,127.00 as we head to Paradise Bowl next Saturday. Congratulations are in order for Long-time LIFE Tour Member, Rollie Abella as he finished in a 3-way Tie for 14th Place this week. This puts Rollie in Elite Company as he joins the '$20,000.00 Club' for Career Earnings at $20,011.00. Rollie has been with the Tour since 2006 and has FIVE Titles to his credit. Congratulations Mr. Abella!!! George Gardner earned Top Scratch Series Pot honors with a 923 while Bronson Etse's 277 was enough to earn the Top Spot for Scratch Game. Good shooting, Gentlemen! It has been just over a year since Willie Manning, Jr. earned hisFirst Career Title and now he is a TWO-Time Champ as he fired an impressive 1005 Series and was the LONE bowler to break 1000 on Saturday. Willie shot his winning series in the 2nd Squad, then returned to Re-Enter as he didn't have the confidence that his score would hold up. Turned out to be a good idea as the stress level was high for Mr. Manning as even though he was bowling in that Final Squad, he was watching several bowlers very closely as he thought they were going to knock him off. Willie becomes the 2nd straight 'Willie' to win on The Tour after Willie Downing cruised to a title last week at Narrows Plaza Bowl. We don't have any more Willie's on The Tour that we're aware of, so a 3-peat is unlikely unless Downing or Manning strike back again next week. Mr. Manning used his Storm 'Alfa Crux' which he won by being Saturday's Top Qualifier in our 1st Quarter Championship back in March atNarrows Plaza Bowl. There are no special plans for spending his $1,812.00 Winner's share but he said he will "Hang out with the kids." Manning gives props to 'R2S' and credits his friends Patrick Dennis, Amy Salmo, Willie Downing and Chris Andreula for their support. In addition, Willie recently lost two cousins,Carissa Sampson and Tarique Jackson and he wants to dedicate this win to them! Sorry for your losses, Willie... Finishing in 2nd Place for the SECOND consecutive week was a RED HOT Roland Jarata who fired a 997. Roland has flirted with his 7th Career Title in back to back weeks and the $821.00 check will hopefully ease his disappointment. In 3rd Place wasStephen McClurkin who shot 991 early in the day and was the leader after the 1st Squad. With $0 in the Progressive Pot, Stephen earns $240.00. Great bowling! |
