Secoma Lanes
December 10th, 2016
Total Paid Out: $7,077.00
First, let's talk about Mr. Etse....Bronson joined the Tour in 2014 andalthough his stay with us has been a brief 28 months, he's put his stamp in the History column with a Title at Pacific Lanes, quickly became a 'LIFE' Tour Member, had 11 Top Ten Finishes and $11,367.00 in Career Earnings. Bronson, a Senior Enlisted Soldier at JBLM, has finished his Tour and is moving on to bigger and better things. Although we will see Bronson one last time next week at Bowlero Lanes for our Year-End Championship, yesterday was likely the last chance for many to see him and wish him well. To add to the legend, Bronson nearly brought home another title this week, finishing 2nd with a 1043, earning $816.00. Way to Go! Good Luck in your future endeavors, Bronson...We'll miss you!
A Day of Oddities
With 111 Entries and scores right on track, we had three bowlers break 1000, Oddity #1 is that one of those 1000+ scores came from each Squad and our Cut Line was 912 with Oddity #2 being that this was the FOURTH straight week where we had a tie in the final Cash spot and third straight week we had one additional spot for payout. Oddity #3 was that our 16th Place spot went to Willie Manning, Jr., who entered twice and shot the exact same 930 score each time! While we're talking about oddities, more strange scoring appeared in the Scratch Pot where have Oddity #4 as the aforementioned Bronson Etse shot not one, but TWO290 Scratch games in his second game of the the 2nd & 3rd Squads. We've had many ties in the Scratch Pot before, but someone splitting the cash with themself makes for yet another true oddity!
9-Tap Jackpot
No real threats to the Jackpot this week, although Earl Kleist did have six of the first seven taps in one of his games. Kenny Tameno takes a nice $100.00 consolation prize as he hit the front four in the 2nd Squad. The Jackpot will start 2017 at $2,929.00 as on January 7th we'll open the year with our Kickoff Doubles Tournament at Roxbury Lanes.
Jamie Nazario Stays Hot!
Jamie Nazario continues to knock on the door as he fired 1017 early in the day and now has TWO 2nd Place along with TWO 3rd Place finishes in just the last eight weeks alone! Stick with it, Jamie...You're SO CLOSE!
Gorilla Is Gone For Cal Fisher!
It wasn't long ago when we talked about Cal Fisher and his multiple Top Fives along with several runner-up finishes over the years. Close call after close call, jokes about being the Best Man and never the Groom, Gorilla's seemed to be permanently affixed to Cal's back as he struggle to finish the deal...Well, the wait is over!!! Cal stepped up big time this week as he fired four great games and posted the winning 1056 series for his first Career Tour Title! We want to be fair to Cal as he did have a win on the 'Elite' Tour during its brief time several years back. Cal used his Columbia 'Side Swipe' ball drilled by Secoma's Robert Kelly and said it was a "Special night" as he bowled with his teammates, John Nissen and David Kim along with their #1 fan, Lynnie Kim. Cal really wanted to thank David, stating "David kept me in the moment, offering advice when needed..." Cal further stated "This win was for my 'Pops' who recently passed away. It is he, an avide bowler, who piqued my interest in the game." Cal, who interestingly also has an avid interest in aviation as a private pilot, said that he will share his $1,789.00 with family during this Holiday Season. The Tour congratulates Cal on his Epic Win!
