Roxbury Bowl
September 17th, 2016
Total Paid Out: $6,673.00
Here was the situation: 'Twas a rainy day in West Seattle, the State Fair in Puyallup was still goiing on, the Sounders, Huskies and Mariners were all in town for Saturday games...If you felt a little like this might be a recipe for potentially a low turnout at Roxbury Bowl, well... then you'd be wrong as we had 104 total entries with 21 bowlers on a Cash List with scores right on target with the 'Cut Line' at a very reachable 925. Four bowlers were able to break 1000, including Jenna Thompson, who just shy of six months ago, won her first title at Roxbury. This time, Jenna opened scoring in the 1st Squad by posting an even 1000 which wound up good for 4th Place and a $210.00 check!
With the Jackpot quickly approaching $3,000.00, we had a 5-way tie for the consolation as it got late in the day. This is when Andrew Ng decided to make a run at the BIG BUCK$, hitting the front 5 taps with his 6th attempt being just too good of a shot. Nice work, Andrew! $250.00 is never a bad thing!
When the Jackpot hits the $4,000.00 mark, we open up more incentives, such as the 'Middle-7'. We bring this up because for the 2nd time in three weeks we had someone hit the 'Middle-7'. This time it was the eventual Tournament Champ,Oscar Gestovo as he actually had 8-straight taps in the middle. Even though this feat didn't pay off this time, Oscar now knows that it's very doable when and if the opportunity should arise again.
The aforementioned Oscar Gestovo made it FOUR Straight First-Time Winners at Roxbury Bowl joining Jeanierose Tabulina,Jenna Thompson and Chris Andreula in the Winner's Circle! Oscar shot 1056 in the 1st Squad and held on all day. He even reentered in the Final Squad to (perhaps) pass time and take the stress off of his shoulders. Oscar was quick to point out that he has been bowling for 30+ years and that he used his Blue Brunswick X-Zone ball that Ed at Skyway Park Bowl drilled for him. Oscar said that he didn't have anyone cheering him on, but did say that his wife hinted to him that he might be wasting his time and money. Maybe the $1,667.00 pay day will (perhaps) make her feel better about your adventures in bowling with the 9-Tap Tour. Gestovo further commented that since his Fall League at Acme Bowl got rolling recently, so did his game as his "focus and concentration" was spot on! As Oscar approaches his 60th birthday, he keeps busy with work, bowling, playing tennis, ping-pong, lifting weights and fishing. Finally, Oscar is happy that he found The Tour, he says he appreciates the Tour, its bowlers and the Staff and our dedication to make things "fair" for everyone. Congratulations on your 1st Title, Oscar!
Coming in 2nd was James Black who, with $767.00 more, is quickly approaching the '$30,000.00 Club' in career earnings. James continues his HOT streak as he also remains perched atop the 'Bowler of the Year' Standings as the stretch run is upon us. In 3rd this week is 'Mr. Roxbury', Walt Dalrymple who has a 3rd, 15th, 5th and TWO wins to his credit over the past couple of years at Roxbury. Well done, Gentlemen!
Also wanted to mention Brian Peters who 14th for his first Tour 'Cash' andPearl Sedeno, who with her 17th spot, she is very close to joining the'$20,000.00 Club'. Good Job, you two!
As was mentioned in one of the headlines above, The Tour is working on getting a Multi-Region Tournament put together in Las Vegas this coming January. This would include all Tour members (Puget Sound/Hawaii/Las Vegas) as well as potential new members at the Tournament itself. We promise to share details of this exciting news as they become available.
Finally, $15.00 new memberships has been extened one more week and the offer will come to a close following our next Tournament at Daffodil Bowl on October 1st.
