Paradise Bowl
July 30th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $5,604.00

Wrap Up

With a marine layer filling the skies around Puget Sound, the humidity made for some hot (and sweaty) bowlers as The Tour returned to Paradise Bowl to round out the month of July.  Scores were much higher than usual as there were 94 entries and 19 Bowlers making the Cash List for the third straight week.  Eight bowlers topped the 1000 mark and there were two more with 999's. The 'Cut-Line' wound up at 954 and TWO bowlers were over 1100 with an 85 year-old just five pins shy of that mark.

Having laid down the same shot as our previous few visits to Paradise, we presume that the aforementioned humidity had a big bearing on the lane conditions and higher scoring.  Whatever the case, Saturday went smooth all around and we congratulate everyone for sticking with it!

The 9-Tap Jackpot had two bowlers with the front five taps, sharing the $100.00 consolation prize as Bob Rouse did it earlier in the day and then in the last squad, Bronson Etse matched the feat, practically stealing $50.00 right out of Bob's pocket! 'Rocky' Rouse didn't seem too disappointed though when we handed him his crisp fifty-dollar bill.

85 year-old 'LIFE' Tour Member, Larry Tibbetts, Sr., shot a HUGE 1095 series and was in GREAT position to earn his first ever Titleony to be outdone a little later.  Larry did earn 3rd Place and $377.00 for his troubles and we're sure vows to get that elusive Title.  TomMelberg had a great day as he also was in position for his 2nd Title and it's pretty rare to shoot over 1100 and not win.  Melberg's 1101 was good for 2nd Place and a $774.00 check.  Super bowling, Tom!

How about Tour newcomer Krisha Naff?  Krisha is very new to bowling and earned her first Career Title in just her 6th ever entry!  Shooting 1116 is only part of the story for Krisha as sheshowed up for the 2nd Squad with her biggest fan and "Good Luck Charm", 'Grandma Terry'.  In that entry, she equaled Tibbetts' 1095 score and was tied for 3rd Place going into the Final Squad.  She then returned for that Final Squad, wrestled with whether or not to try again, got in line to reenter, got out of line, then got back in line saying how frustrated she was with the final game of her first entry.  In that Final Squad, she put it all together and avoided that one bad game as she topped Melberg by 15 pins to earn the Title.  Krisha said that she was only just learning to bowl recently, getting good advice along with new bowling shoes, a new Ebonite 'Tornado' ball drilled by Jim Smith over at Narrows Plaza's 'Strike Zone' Pro Shop.

This being (BY FAR) her best performance to date, with $10 in the Progressive Pot, Krisha earned $1,320.00 and said she'll share the loot with "Grandma Terry" and will also pay some bills.  This doubles as a Super early birthday present for Naff as she'll celebrate her birthday this coming week (August 4th).  Congratulations, Krisha!

The Tour wishes Krisha a Very Happy Birthday along with the wonderful Pam Sims who will celebrate her birthday on the 5th!

The Progressive Pot rebounded nicely for next week at BowleroLanes where it's sure to be a nice Winner's Share as it is now at $1,915.00.  The 9-Tap Jackpot is also steadily climbing and sits at $1,366.00.
