January 16th, 2016

Total Paid Out: $6,504.00

Wrap Up
With the 2016 season now in full swing, The Tour made its way to 72nd & Pacific in Tacoma where (since 1959) Pacific Lanes has been a staple  to the bowling community!  Even with some PBA Tournaments in its 56+ year past, perhaps there hasn't been many (if any) single shots worth over $6,000.00.  On SaturdayWill Cotton changed that as he hitthe Front SIX 9-taps which gave him a HUGE opportunity at the $6,161.00 Jackpot.  After the shot, Will said that he intentionally tried to go "Brooklyn" but went a little wide, leaving the 2 pin and VERY wobbly sleeper 9.  With $500.00 in consolation, Will was still a very happy camper!  The Jackpot holds steady and will be at $7,558.00 for next week at Secoma Lanes.

After Tim Apthorp posted an early & Personal Best 967 series, he held the lead for the next 5+ hours when no less than five bowlers began their individual runs for glory...The whispering began when Dale Coleman fired a 300 in his first game, declaring that he was in pursuit and even had 561 after two, then it was  Michael Leemoui who was sitting at 517 after two games as the recently on fire, James Strand sat at 521.  Not to be outdone, Dan Watts was quietly providing electricity of his own and sat at 523 after two.

As the Final Squad entered the last game, all four of these guys had their chance at the title and Matias Oriza entered the fray posting closing games of 262 & 274, coming up just short of the podium in 4th Place with a 998.  In 3rd Place was the Strand, shooting 999, earning$438.00 just after winning last week at our Doubles Event.  Coleman was Runner-up this week, coming up 15 pins short of his 4th Career Title.  For Dale, his 3rd game 199 (w/handicap) probably cost him the Title, but makes a great argument for why people love our 'Best 3 of 4' format which will return NEXT WEEK at Secoma Lanes.

Our Newest & 1st-Time Champion is none other than Dan Watts!  Danposted his 1019 series somewhat quietly as all of the attention seemed to be on Coleman, Strand & Leemoui.  Watts' first Title comes almost one year after joining The Tour last February as his previous best finish  was 9th (twice).  For the second straight week, Matt Surina from Daffodil Bowl provided the drilling of our Champion's ball.  The Hammer 'Black Widow' did the job for Dan as he said he realized that his footwork was "too fast, I wasn't letting the ball do the work".  Dan added that he will put his $1,937.00 check into his "bowling fund" as his wife and two daughter's rooted him on to victory.  Dan was excited, saying "MY FIRST SHIRT, Steve!  I've been chasing that shirt for almost a year".  Congratulations, Dan!
