Wrap Up

As temperatures jumped up into the 90's in many Puget Sound locations, it might have been just a little bit warmer in Burien where at HiLine Lanes many bowlers 'Brought The Heat' and put on an incredible display of scoring!  One bowler, in particular was in a world of his own, so please keep reading and we'll explain...

They say that records were made to be broken...However, is this the case when it's the same person breaking their own record time and time again?  Most of us already knew that Samson Ibale was the All-Time Tour record holder for Wins...So it makes sense to say that he also is the Record Setter for Career Earnings.  First shooting a Top Score for the day 843 in the 4:30 Squad, Samson wasn't  satisfied as he re-entered the Final Squad and bettered his score by 2 pins with an immaculate 845 to earn his Record 19th Title!  More on Samson further down in the Newsletter.

As one of the above headlines reads: 'You MUST WATCH Huyen Thai Go For The Jackpot', we're not kidding, you MUST WATCH it!  His reaction was hilarious and goes to show you that disappointment can sometimes bring out the best in us.  Thai earned the $250.00 Consolation for hitting the front six taps and bragging rights with his brother, Thang Duc Thai who actually hit the Jackpot for $995.00 just over a month ago.  Huyen's shot would have been worth $1,290.00

Big money is on the line next week at Secoma Lanes as both the Progressive Pot AND the 9-Tap Jackpot grew this week to $1,731.00 and $1,800.00 respectively.

Recently this weeks 2nd Place bowler, Gary Van Ness celebrated his 80th birthday.  Shooting an 836 this week, Gary was just 9 pins shy of his 4th Career Title and as he left for the day, Gary said "I don't feel a day over 101!"  The SouthPaw pockets $730.00 on one of his best performances ever!  Nice shooting Gary!

Dan Watts is amongst the leaders in the 'Bowler of the Year' Race and posted an early 833 series to earn the 3rd Place $405.00 check.  One could argue that Watts has had the best year on Tour in 2016 but he is in good company with several others as we watch the BOY race tighten as we reach our final few months!

TEN bowlers topped the 800 mark this week at HiLine on a shot that was the same as our recent visits there.  We're not sure what to attribute the high scoring to but the 773 'Cut Line' was very impressive as was the turnout with 111 Entries and 22 bowlers on the Cash List.

Ok, back to OUR version of "The King"...Samson is now in a club all by himself, the '$60,000.00 Club' as with this win, Ibale now has earned $60,363.00 on Tour.  Yes, that's a Record!  Also, 19 Career Titles is not only a record, but Samson said "One more and I'll have 20!"  Goals are goals, can't fault him for that.

Samson thanked his friends, James BlackAndrew NgKevin Ng and the recovering (from shoulder surgery) Mark Hitchcock for their support as well as all of the 9-Tap Tour and our staff.  A vacation to his homeland, The Phillippines is on his radar soon and the $1,776.00 will come in handy.

Congratulations Samson!

Finally, we'd like to thank Dotty Jones (and Bill) for being on hand this weekend to take Tour shirt orders.  If you didn't get an order in, NO PROBLEM!  We take orders every week but we ask those who don't have or those who simply don't wear them to please do so.  The enforcement patrol will be out in force in upcoming weeks as part of being a part of the 9-Tap Tour family, wearing a Tour shirt is a requirement.  While we are and have been very flexible with this rule, we ask everyone to please participate in compliance to this moving forward.  Thanks!
