Skyway Park Bowl - Renton, WA
November 7th, 2015

Total Paid Out: $6,468.00

Wrap Up
Saturday's somewhat thin turnout at Skyway Park Bowl did not diminish from the excitement as one of the more nerve racking finishes in recent history brought the outcome down to nearly the final shot of the day!  Earlier in the day, Rob handed off a cool FIVE Benjamin's ($500.00) to Roland Jarata, who earned it by hitting the 'Front 6' last week at HiLineLanes.  9-Taps is the name of the game and there was no shortage of them at Skyway this week as Rose Hudson hit 8 of 9 taps in one game then continued her roll in her next game getting taps in 11 of 15 frames at one point.  Perhaps it was unfortunate for Rose in terms of the Jackpot possibilities, but this run of taps was interrupted by a couple of real strikes and the two games we're talking about resulted in a total of OVER 600 for those two games...WOW!  More info on Rose in a few!  Samson Ibale also had a run of taps to wrap up one of his games as he tapped in 6 straight leading to a 'Money Shot' in the 12th frame for $500.00.

Ultimately, it was Vu Nguyen who took home $100.00 in consolation for hitting the 'Front 4' earlier in the day.  The 9-Tap Jackpot increased to $6,744.00 for next week at Paradise Bowl.

The scoring range, for those who made the Cash List, was exactly as advertised with ideal scores from 1038 down to a 904 'Cut Line' and just four topping the 1000 mark.  In all, with 90 Entries, 18 bowlers made the Cash List with handicaps ranging from -4 to +47.  As the 'Bowler of the Year' competition entered it's final three weeks, the Top 5 in the standings were all on hand, pulling out ALL the Stops, each trying to improve their positions by entering in ALL 3 squads.  One of those bowlers, Earl Kleist entered the last squad in 2nd place with his 1000 series, only to be bumped to 4th by just ONE PIN.  Earl is giving all that he has to be the first Member to win the B.O.Y. twice, picking up some valuable points down the stretch.

Bill Jones entered the final game of the day with a legitimate shot at taking home his first title.  Bill was one of the several people who was running late to arrive on time for the final squad as traffic was HORRIBLE!  Even though he barely made it on time, he got himself lined up in a hurry, posting three HUGE games, and in doing so, gaining a lot of attention in the end as his pair of lanes were last to finish and many were aware that he had a chance at the title.  Unforunately, for Bill a few errant shots at the end of the final game cost him his chance at glory.  What turned out to be a positive for Bill was that he was able to edge out Mr. Kleist by ONE pin to finish in 3rd Place, earning $448.00.  Way to go, Bill!

Finishing in 2nd Place was the aformentioned, Rose Hudson...As we said earlier, Rose was on a serious roll in the 1st Squad and if not for a bit of a struggle in her final game, she might have cruised to her 1st title.  Even though Rose was disappointed at the end of the day, her $874.00 paycheck did put a smile on her face!  Great bowling, Rose!

It is really hard to believe that in all of these years on The 9-Tap Tour,
Samson Ibale, who calls Skyway his 'Home House', has had 16 Tour Titlesand NONE of them have been at Skyway!  Well, Samson, Title #17 changes all of that!  After a month long HOT streak and some of the best bowling of his incredible Tour career, including a 2nd & a 3rd last month, Samson FINALLY won his first Title in over a year and he wouldn't give up Saturday, even his -4 handicap didn't slow him down in the end.  After throwing a decent set the first squad that would have been just short of the Cash List, he struggled mightily on his 2nd try...but EVERYTHING fell into place on his 3rd try as he fired a 1038 which included that previously mention 'Money Shot'.  After taking that shot, Samson said that he didn't even know that the shot was for 7 straight taps.  With the win, he pushed his Record Career Earnings to $55,635.00.  Ibale said that he has no plans for his winning check of $1,960.00 other than to save it for future 9-Tap Tournaments.  Samson credits the win to "Focus on my game" and further stated that having his Wife, Edessa along with his friends James BlackGomer BraganzaRoland Jarata & Ganny Angeleshelped him keep that focus.
