Roxbury Bowl - Seattle, WA
August 8th, 2015
Total Paid Out: $6,508.00
Three nice-sized Squads weren't really enough to offset a small 1st Squad as the Tour returned to Roxbury Bowl on Saturday. Out of 100 Entries, an ENORMOUS Forty-Three scores topped the900 mark, but it wasn't until the very last few minutes of the day when two bowlers fought it out to break the 1000 mark andIT WAS CLOSE in the end! Many bowlers would have liked to have had the 'Best 3 of 4'Format for this week as a couple of dozen had the first three games only to fall off in their final game. Not to worry, though as next week the Tour is at Daffodil Bowl where that Format returns! David Kim would tell you that he had an 'Off Day' but was able to toss a HUGE & True scratch game, flirting with a real 300 as he fired the first 10 strikes and wound up with a really nice286. Nice shooting, David! With a very late in the day addition, Shane Thompson joined last week's Champion, Earl Kleist & our most recent Jackpot Winner from back in May, Stu Gallagher as the three of them hit the front 4 Taps earning $40.00 each in consolation from the 9-Tap Jackpot. Ruong Sa Tang was away from the Tour for a few years after joining in 2012 and was our early leader, posting a really nice994 series. Ruong was chasing his 1st Title and for quite awhile it appeared as though his score was going to hold up. Saturday's3rd Place finish earned him $441.00 and goes nicely with 2nd & 5th Place finishes earlier in the year. Rich Livingston didn't exactly start his day off on a positive note as he struggled through his 4:30 Squad entry. However, with encouragement from his wife (Kelly), he re-entered in the 6:30Squad and caught fire as everything seemed to come together. After joining in 2011 and also being away from the Tour a few years, this is Rich's biggest finish to date as he post his Personal Best (by 90 pins) 1029, coming up just 11 pins shy of his First Title. Both Livingston's were elated and took home $688.00 for the 2nd Place Finish with just $10.00 in the Progressive Pot. Nice shooting, Rich! What can we say about Patrick Dennis as he earned his 2nd Title of the year after pairing up & Winning with Pearl Sedeno earlierin the year at Pacific Lanes? Similar to Livingston, Mr. Dennis got HOT on his re-entry after lining himself up earlier in the4:30 Squad. All Patrick did was fire a1040, the best score of the day and unknowingly had to double in the 10th frame of his final game to Win the Title. The 2012 'Rookie of the Year' boosted his career earnings to $18,410.00 with the$1,942.00 pay day and posted his 5th Career Title! With that, Patrick earned himself the prestigious 5-Gold Star 'Retro' Jersey. Patrick's only been bowling for five years and his practice, workethic, along with confidence shows! He used his Brunswick 'Mastermind Intellect' ball drilled by Derek Handy from Area 300 ProShop at Tech City Bowl and said that he "Had a tough time" in his earlier entry but "found something in the last game and was able to get into the zone". Dennis wanted to thank his good friend and Tour Winner,Willie Manning, aka 'Steele' along with his "#1 Cheerleader"Amy Salmo for cheering him on. Congratulations, Patrick! Great Bowling! |
