 The 'Kick-Off' Doubles Tournament started off 2015 right as The Tour crowned not one, but TWO brand new, first time Champs! With 127 bowlers teaming up for a total of 104 partnerships, 21 teams made their way to the Cash List. An impressive 11 bowlers took advantage of Multi-Cash Chance by hitting the Cash List at least twice while just two bowlers,Michael Leemoui & Kai Pedro Cashed three times. Two bowlers, Thang Duc Thai & Magic Bristol both took advantage of the 9-Tap Jackpot consolation (ties paid in full) by hitting the front 4-taps, pocketing $100.00each. Scoring was strong ALL DAY with 15 teams topping 1000 and 20 individual two-game scores topping 500, led by Johnny Olim's HUGE587 followed by Magic Bristol's impressive 579. Aaron Lutz & Ron Barnette were the only others to top the 550 mark.
3's were wild Saturday as the Top 3 teams finished just 3 pins apart with all three teams featuring 'mixed doubles' (a guy & a gal) partnerships as well. Finishing in a tie for 2nd Place this week with an awesome pair of1070's were the Johnny Olim/Donna Columbo & Cindy Watts/Jerry Hendrickson tandems. How exciting for Olim, as he not only came within 3 pins of his first Title, this was his first Tour Cash! Columbo had won her first Title just six weeks ago as well as finishing 6th in the 'Bowler of the Year' standings for 2014. Watts has one previous Title and for Hendrickson, he came this close to his 4th Title after just having joined the $10,000.00 Club late in 2014.
Chalk up another Doubles Title to yet another last second, unplanned pairing as this week's Champs only just met minutes before bowling. It seems that the secret to winning Saturday was each partner having a Top 10 individual score and with their 540 & 533 scores totaling 1073, Karol Knight & Chuck DeForest did just that!
After the win, Karol said that "It's nice to NOT get knocked out of 1st Place in the last Squad" and when asked if she had anyone cheering
 her on Saturday, she commented "Not today but everyone on The Tour encourages each other". Karol bowls regularly on the Tour as well a splitting time betweenHiLine Lanes and Acme Bowl for her regular leagues. Her previous top finish was a 5th place last year but her biggest claim to fame was hitting the 9-Tap Jackpot for $5,222.00 back in October of 2013. Additionally, Karol used her DV8 'Hell Raiser' ball drilled by Erik at Acme Lanes and with her winnings this week, plans on visiting her sister in Montana to "Do some jewelry shopping".Only just having joined the Tour back in November and with a 10th Place best finish up to this point, Chuck came to Roxbury without big expectations, a plan for getting a partner or even how our Doubles
 Tournaments worked. Well, it looks like it all worked out just fine, Sir. Chuck has been bowling for 48 years and besides golf, one of his biggest hobbies is drilling his own bowling balls, including the Track '715T' he used on Saturday. When asked for comments after the win, the retired Computer Technician said he enjoys bowling with the Tour and that he plans to use some of his winnings from this win to "Get an Apt.".
