West Seattle Bowl - West Seattle, WA
July 19th, 2014

Total Paid Out: $5,120.00

Wrap Up
All of the 'hype' about potential traffic issues due to the I-90 bridge closure, NEVER materialized.  The bowlers who made it reported no problems, but it did take a toll on this week's turnout.  Despite the lower numbers, we had an awesome competition, with some BIG scores, an ideal Cut-Line and the Super Seniors 'stole-the-show'!  Among the Top 4 finishers, we had a 73, 78 & 81 year old, with one 27 year old preventing a 'clean sweep'.  Another Senior, John Nissen came close to a Perfect 300 game, throwing 11 REAL strikes + one 9-Tap strike.  Continuing the trend, Divina Novelowon an impressive THREE out of four High Game Pots in the 3rd squad, but one below average game limited her to a 9th Place finish.  Meanwhile, two of the Top finishers had just $10 in the Progressive Pot, allowing that Pot to grow again (as did the 9-Tap Jackpot), for next week at HiLine.

Patience is indeed 'a virtue'!  Our West Seattle Champion Gary Van Ness(78) is a GREAT example of patience and determination being rewarded.  Gary has had an average ratio on the Cash List (1 in every 5 entries), since he joined the Tour in 2010.  However, until recently he's had a real shortage of Top 10 finishes, which has certainly changed thanks to his 2nd Victory of the year!  His spectacular 1075 series, started with the second highest game he's shot on Tour and ended with his career best four game series (scratch).  When asked what has changed, that he's suddenly so hot, Gary could only think of a recent 'teeth cleaning' as an answer (I'm sure that was it!?!?!).  He also added that all the different Tour Members are, "A good group of people that help make each week an enjoyable experience".  He again used his Storm Frantic for the Win, drilled by Dan Sanchez at the Kent Bowl Pro Shop.  Gary only had $10 in the Pro Pot, which limited him to a still healthy $1,504.00 payday (could have been $654.00 more), which he thinks he might use to take a cruise.  Gary who has worked as a surveyor for 56 years, does his league bowling at Acme Bowl.  CONGRATS Gary on Win #2 and the Red Champions shirt.

In 2nd Place, Tour 'Hall of Famer' Leon Bemis (81) came close to his first Win in 3 years and his $687.00 ($10 Pro Pot) pushed his Career Earnings to an enviable $18,923.00.  Leon was very proud of also collecting extra cash from the Hdcp High Game Pot and the Scratch Pot (game & series) and the Jackpot (3-Taps).  In 3rd Place, Chris Andreula (the youngster of the group - 27) continued his recent 'Hot Streak', following his 2nd Place last week at Narrows.  This week, he collected a nice $487.00 check to go with his $970.00 from Narrows.  Mike Ducay's excellent 1016 and Donnie Roberts strong 1006 represented the other 1000+ series shot this week.
