West Seattle Bowl - West Seattle, WA
March 30th, 2014
Total Paid Out: $8,027.00
For the 3rd time this month, a Member had the chance to throw one ball for THOUSANDS of dollars. Jerry Hendrickson got the 'Golden Shot' at Kent, John Nissen's try came at Narrows and this week West Seattle Bowl nearly made it TWO Jackpot conquests in-a-row! Lori Clark made her 7th shot a close one (see video below) and she didn't even realize that she was shooting for BIG payday ($3,354.00). She was plenty excited about the$500.00 Consolation for her 6-Taps... but if only!? Kathy Johnsonfollowed Lori by getting the front 5 Taps in the next squad, just missing on #6 and Roland Jarata also had 6 of 7 middle Taps for another narrow miss. The 9-Tap Jackpot remained above $4,000.00 for next week, so the opportunity for 7 middle Taps will continue for Secoma next week. The range of scores Saturday couldn't have been more ideal for the 'Best 3 of 4' format, with just four bowlers in the 800-834 range and a reasonable Cut-Line at 728.
Pearl Sedeno came trough with a narrow 4 pin Victory with her 834. Her achievement has several interesting storylines. Pearl and husbandRaymond, joined the Tour in 2008. She won her 1st Title that year at Bowlero Lanes. Then, she and Raymond, who are both from Hawaii, moved back home in 2009. They joined the 9-Tap Tour in Hawaii where Pearl earned TWO more Titles (both at Pali Lanes) and Raymond also won his first Title. That made Pearl the first Member to win a Championship in both Regions. They returned to Washington in 2012 and now Pearl has balanced her Titles with TWO in each Region. She seemed the most excited about earning a rare Gold Championship shirt for her 4th Career Title. Pearl's been on quite a HOT STREAK this year and she attributes her success to the bowling ball that was won at our Bowlers Appreciation Day last October. That streak includes a couple of 2nd place finishes already this year. Her ball is a Taboo Pearl (how appropriate), that Raymond won and gave to Pearl. That ball was donated for Bowler Appr. Day by Robert Kelly at the Secoma Lanes Pro Shop, where it was also drilled. The $2, 071.00 earned this week, pushes Pearl's total earnings to just a few hundred short of joining the elite $10,000 Club. CONGRATS Pearl for earning that Gold Champions Shirt!
In 2nd Place, Alvin Koch was looking like his strong 830 might hang on for his 2nd Title. Instead, he collected his first 2nd Place finish and a nice$928.00 payday. He shot his two biggest games in a strong finish in games #3 & #4. In 3rd Place, recent newcomer Matt Carlson shot his highest game on Tour so far (277 scr), to climb way up the standings ladder, earning a healthy $489.00 check. The only other 800 series was turned in by Cal Fisher (810), with Dane Clement (799) and Matias Oriza (798) close behind.
