Imperial Lanes - Seattle, WA
August 23rd, 2014
Total Paid Out: $6,222.00
It was a very pleasant August Saturday in The Puget Sound area as the Tour returned to Imperial Lanes in Seattle for some great competition. With 96 Entries, 19 Bowlers made the Cash List with a Perfect range of scores. Two bowlers topped the 1000 mark as the Cut Line was right on target for the day at 929. As the Tourney unfolded, so many bowlers turned in BIG games with some even flirting with their first perfect 300. Unfortunately, many didn't sustain their streaks, coming up a bit short. You can't come much closer to hitting the 9-Tap Jackpot than Rafael Jandusay did on Saturday...Even though there wasn't much drama to it, after hitting the front 3-taps, Rafael missed with his 4th shot then tapped in the 5th, 6th & 7th frames making it 9-taps in 6 out of the front 7 frames. As many of you know, it's tough to finish a game when you have to look at the scoring monitor as it shows XXXXXXX. Also making a run at the Jackpot was Irvin Anderson as he hit the front 4 9-taps then on his 5th shot, he slightly pulled the ball across the head pin, leaving the 3-6 standing, the 'messenger' pin then came across and tripped out the 6 pin giving him the 5th tap for a brief second but unfortunately, the 6 pin slowly fell backwards and tripped out the 3 pin for a real strike. Irvin wound up sharing 9-Tap Consolation prize for the day with Stu Gallagher as both bowlers take home $50.00. The 9-Tap Jackpot rises again and now stands at $3,597.00 for next week's 3rd Quarter Championship at Kent Bowl.
Finishing in 2nd Place this week with an impressive 1016 was 4-time Champ, Cecil Abay-Abay. For his strong showing, Cecil earns $892.00which jumps his career earnings up to $17,748.00 and boosts his 2014 position on the Bowler of the Year Standings. Nice shooting, Cecil! Donna Columbo, who has had one of the Top 2 averages for the Ladies this year, had a Big start and a Big finish, but one game kept her from contention for her first Title. Donna finished the day in 3rd Place and earns $458.00 to go with her TWO High Game Pot wins. Well done, Donna!
It wasn't until around 10:00 PM and after getting home when then the phone call was made to inform our Newest Champion that he had held on to win. With the Top score of 1033, Incredibly, this week's Champ,Jason Laridon had zero games over 250 (scratch) but shot four consistent, solid games totaling 953 (scratch) which is his 2nd highest career series. The hard work and practice is really paying off for Jason as since joining the Tour, he's raised his average by an impressive 18 pins (before Saturday) and is now confident enough in his game to join a Fall Scratch League at Secoma Bowl. This is Jason's 3rd Career Title and he credits much of his success to new equipment like his Roto Grip 'Asylum' ball (drilled by Robert Kelly at Secoma), coaching and practice. Jason earns $1,992.00 for the win and would like to thank his one person Fan Club member & wife, Cathy for her attendance and support.
Great bowling & Congratulations, Jason!!!
