HiLine Lanes - Burien, WA
January 25th, 2014
Total Paid Out: $8,661.00
A tremendous turnout of 152 Members created some great competition and some impressive scores, along with a large Cash List of 30 bowlers. SEVEN bowlers managed to crack the 1000 mark this week, with every squad contributing some of those BIG scores. The Cut-Line of 932 was 10-15 pins above normal, with a HUGE number (22 bowlers) coming close, shooting between 900-930. We ended January, 3 for 3, with our Champions earning $2,000.00+ checks. Next week looks likely to make it 4 for 4, thanks to the Progressive Pot growing to an Extra Large size at $2,572.00. Tara Strand & Pearl Sedeno shared the Jackpot Consolation for their 4-Taps. As a result of the large turnout and only $100.00 paid out this week, the 9-Tap Jackpot also made a large jump$2,291.00.
First, the lead was held by Eric Smallman (1038), regaining form after his 2nd hip replacement surgery. Then it was Pearl Sedeno (1044), looking like she had it wrapped-up. Then, on one of the last lanes to finish, ChimSaechao stormed past them all with a GREAT 1061, for his 2nd Career Title. Chim decided to bowlSaturday at the last minute, since he had just finished a 12 hour shift at work and only had 2 hours of sleep. Apparently, he had a feeling, because when he checked-in, he commented that, "I think today's the day... I'm overdue to Win one"! He slipped-up a bit in his 3rd game, but more than made up for it with an AWESOME 282 (w/hdcp) in his final game. When Chim won his first Title, it was the very last Tournament held at Hooters Bowl, before it closed down in April 2011. That day at Hooters, was another Tournament that featured a large turnout and a Super Sized payday, when he earned a HUGE $3,330.00. The romantic story then, was that Chim was planning to use those winnings for a Hawaiian Wedding. This week, he earned a healthy $2,230.00 and plans to use it for a surprise for his wife Laura, that he said he's been, "Looking forward to getting for her". The bowling ball that Chim used Saturday was a Track 916, which originally belonged to his friend & fellow Tour MemberDex DeCastro. That ball was first drilled at the Majestic Lanes Pro Shop and Chim said he didn't even need to have it re-drilled to fit his hand. CONGRATS Chim on Win #2!!
Pearl Sedeno is the ONLY Tour bowler to earn Titles in both the Hawaii Region & Puget Sound Region. She was close to Win #3, but had to settle for a $997.00 check for her Fantastic 1044 series. In 3rd Place, Eric Smallman was chasing his 3rd Tour Title. His 2nd Win was the Satellite Tourney in Mt. Vernon last August, just a few days before going in to have his second hip replaced. His 1038 was worth a sweet $504.00, plus a possible endorsement from Hip Replacement Surgeons everywhere.
