Bowlero Lanes - Lakewood, WA
January 4th, 2014
Total Paid Out: $6,875.00
BIG THANKS to the Tour bowlers for their GREAT patience Saturday and also to the Bowlero Staff who worked their tails off trying to keep-up! Our 2014 'Kick-Off' Doubles Tournament was memorable in many ways! It was memorable for Pizza consumption, when not one slice of Pizza remained, from the 40 large Pizzas that were inhaled by the hungry crowd. With the Re-Opening of Bowlero, we expected a few more mechanical 'gremlins' than usual. Instead, it became memorable mostly because of the newly installed computer scoring program, which is where the little buggers caused most of Saturday's issues. Most important, it was memorable for the lower than normal scores, creating a very close competition, with all but the Top 2 bowlers being very tightly bunched. SIX Bowlers took advantage of the 'Multi-Cash' opportunity by Cashing at least twice (D.Dansereau-N.Blase-J.Strand-K.Johnson-J.Hendrickson), led by Rick Jack who Cashed FOUR times. Those multiple Cashes also add-up to extra points for the 2014 Bowler of the Year standings.
Our Doubles Tournament history includes several 'last second pairings'who go on to big Wins. It happened again this week, when Cecil Abay-Abay was looking for a partner just before practice began. Pen Haganpicked him up as her 3rd Doubles partner that squad. Obviously a PERFECT match, as they shot the only 1000 series of the day, with an Awesome 1023. In 2012 Pen partnered with partner Wayne Liddy to Win a Doubles Tournament... this year, they both did well again with different teammates, as Wayne finished in 3rd Place with L.C. Cofield. Pen used a Storm Tropical Breeze, drilled by Matt at Sounder Lanes (McChord). For Cecil, this is his third Career Title and he wishes that he picked up an extra partner himself, since he shot such a Blistering 584 for his two games. Cecil's ball was a Track 715A that he drilled himself at his personal home Pro Shop. Together, they hit for a nice $1,846.00 payday. CONGRATS Pen & Cecil!!
Denise Dansereau & Randy Hirst are partners who paired-up for their best Career finish, in 2nd Place, with a strong 960 series. Not getting in the Winner's Pot left $424.00 to pass down to 3rd Place, but they were pretty excited with a nice $500.00 check. Wayne & L.C. were the recipients of that extra Pot money, pushing the 3rd Place money to an impressive$714.00 for their 945 series. 4th Place also got a piece of the Winner's Pot pass down, with Donna Columbo & Nikki Blase sharing a sweet $410.00for their 939.
