Roxbury Bowl - Seattle, WA
October 5th, 2013
Total Paid Out: $10,306.00
The 9-Tap Tour, along with the area Pro Shops (above),Roxbury Bowl and Complete Bowling Service, showed their APPRECIATION of the Tour bowlers this week. 10 New Bowling Balls were won by: 'Mr. Lucky' Patrick Robbins(TWO), Jimmy Suarez, Tom Briskey, Donna Columbo, Jim Reppert, Rey Sedeno, Kevin Sheline, Stu Gallagher & Todd Beierle. We also had one heck of a Tournament at the same time! Strong scoring led to six bowlers topping 1000, with those BIG scores being shot in three different squads. A large Cash List of 30 bowlers, had a 'just right' Cut-Line of 923 (unless you threw a 922). Despite a lot of 9 tap strings, they just weren't at the right times, so the 9-Tap Jackpot got off easy, with Cal Fisher taking$100.00 in Consolation money. The result was a huge leap for the Jackpot, pushing it to $6,528.00... so watch for a BIG Jackpot 'sweetener' to be added for next week at West Seattle.
Carl Nichols returned to the Winner's Circle for the first time in over two years, earning his 3rd Career Title. Carl was the Tour's 2011 Rookie of the Year, and has regularly made the trip down from Blaine (Canada Border) to compete. This year, his appearances have been more sporadic while he's been building a new house. His relative 'dry spell' dates back to last year when henot only finished 2nd in a Tournament at Paradise... he also performed a 'miracle' when he converted a 7-10 split. Since that was the last Tournament on the wooden lanes, Paradise gave him a large piece of the lane as a souvenir. Carl's 1059 Saturday was good enough for a solid Win and a $2,075.00 payday, plus he earned an extra$220.00 from the Scratch Pot. He used a Hammer Taboo 'Jet Black', drilled by Bill Hoskins in Lynnwood for the Win. Carl expressed his appreciation of the other Tour bowlers, saying that they're a "Great Group" of people. It's always a pleasure to have Carl and his positive demeanor at the Tournaments! CONGRATS Carl on Win #3 and the White Champion Jersey.
Chuck Gonsalez was also chasing his 3rd Title Saturday. Instead, he matched his best 2013 finish with his second, 2nd Place finish since June. His excellent 1045 series was worth a hefty $940.00, which he said would come in very handy. In 3rd Place, Erma Tappe had her best finish and shot her Career Best series, a very nice 1024, for a $508.00 payday. Pen Hagen's run at the Top Spot, in the 6:30 squad, came up short this time and she settled for 4th, with her 1022.
