Narrows Plaza - University Place, WA
August 3rd, 2013
Total Paid Out: $7,410.00
Another one of those days, where at least a dozen bowlers had shots at the Top Spot, but were derailed by that infamous ONE BAD GAME along the way. The Tour's first ever 'Senior Day'was a great success and the Seniors arrived 'Ready to do Battle', dominating the youngsters this week. Seniors not only took the Top 6 spots, but also 8 of the Top 10, while Super Seniors (65+)Willie Downing & Leon Bemis finished 4th & 5th. The Seniors Pot High Game & the Super Senior Bounty both went to Gary Woldt (69), worth a huge $230.00 plus the $50.00 Bounty. Garypicked a great time to throw his first 300 game (322 w/hdcp) in two years, with a unique twist... he missed the head-pin on the 12th shot, but got a 9-Tap strike anyway. The rest of the $510.00 paid from the Pot, went to 2nd Jeff Armour $115.00 313 (55), 3rd Dale Coleman $69.00 311 (56) & 4th Bob Rouse $46.00294 (52). 2012 Bowler of the Year Pen Hagen (well below 50) had the Front-5 Taps to take away the 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation money from two Seniors who were sitting at 4-Taps. Pen took home $250.00 for her effort, but the Jackpot still rose to$4,712.00 for next week at Secoma.
A true Tour 'Rookie', Jeff Armour wins his first Tour Title. Jeff joined the Tour in July at Daffodil and he made his first time on the Cash List a memorable one! With only $10 in the Progressive Pot, he left a few bucks on the table, but he was very happy to earn a tidy $1,444.00 for his effort. That obviously means the Pro Pot will also make a hefty jump for next week. The extra $115.00he collected for his 2nd Place in the Senior Pot, helped make it a very profitable day. Jeff is the second Champion in-a-row, that comes to us from Port Orchard's HiJoy Bowl (Paul Mann last week). It usually requires a good break or two to win a Title and Jeff said that his biggest one came during 'Crunch Time' in his final game. With only a 4-pin margin of Victory, his 8th frame break made all the difference. He pulled the shot, missing the headpin, but got away with the strike anyway (just like Gary Woldt did in the Senior Pot). Jeff had turned his back after the bad shot, and didn't even get to see his mini-miracle. The winning ball of choice this week was an Ebonite 'The One', drilled by Nick Blair at HiJoy Bowl for the Win. Jeff sends his THANKS to friend John Schelegle, who bowled with him Saturday. CONGRATS to Jeff for Win #1!!
After holding the lead all-day, Bob Matlock was the bowler who was nosed out by 4 pins. Bob was shooting for his third Tour Title, with his nice 1038, but settles for a healthy $855.00 for 2nd Place. Bob often puts $10 in the Pro Pot, but this week, wisely invested $20, which more than made up for the Senior Pot money he missed by not entering that one. In 3rd Place, L.C. Cofieldcame close to his second Title, but was happy with his best performance so far this year, good enough for a $468.00 payday.
