Imperial Lanes - Seattle, WA
September 7th, 2013
Total Paid Out: $7,398.00
Patrick had it... then Ganny snatched it... finally James grabbed it... until Pam OWNED IT! Nobody had the lead for very long and dozens of bowlers were within reach of the lead all day. That's truly the makings of a GREAT Tournament. We appreciated the upgrades that are underway at Imperial, but none more than the brand new Pins that were installed just before we started the Tournament. As expected, those new pins lead to lots of long strings of 9-Taps from numerous bowlers. Ultimately, it was Ganny Angeles & Alfredo Oriza with the Front-5 Taps that shared the $250.00 9-Tap Jackpot Consolation. That still allowed the Jackpot to grow again, now reaching a hefty $5,528.00 for Narrows Plaza next week. The scoring was ideal for this format, with a Cut-Line of 729 and only two 800 scores. Again, we had a very diverse Cash List, so all-in-all we couldn't have hoped for a better competition.
Pam Sims completed her comeback with her 2nd Career Win, coming 6 years after her first Title. In between, Pam had elbow surgery 3 years ago and then a hip/lower back injury 2 years ago that even sidelined her from her job. Since returning to the Tourin January, her tenacity has been tested as she's struggled through the long 'dry spell'. After a mediocre first game (throw-out game) Saturday, Pam put together 3 strong games, finishing like a Champ with her best game of the day, a strong 261, finishing with an excellent 814. She used her DV8 'Diva' (of course) for the BIG Win, drilled by Pat Johns at HiLine Bowl. This Title evens Pam with partner Magic Bristol, who got his 2nd Win in March. Pam thanks Magic for his encouragement, especially in that last game. She said they'd use the $2,006.00 in Winnings to pay bills & take a trip out to the ocean. Pam was formerly quite a softball player, now enjoys woodworking and crafts as a hobby. CONGRATS Pam on Win #2 and the red Champions shirt!
In 2nd Place, James Black looked like he was a shoe-in to pick up his 2nd Career Title and first this year. That was until Pam came through in her last game. James shot a sweet 806 series, which was the only other 800 of the day, good enough for a healthy $902.00 payday. Ganny Angeles told me before he bowled Saturday, that it was going to be his day to Win. He backed that statement up with a strong 798 to take the lead, but after the smoke cleared, he settled for $481.00 for 3rd, plus the$125.00 he earned from the Jackpot... still a nice day!
