Secoma Lanes - Federal Way, WA

Wrap Up
Sunday was a day where nearly everything was SO CLOSE, often coming down to the 10th Frame or even the very last ball!  We had very tight Head-to-Head Matches such as the Round of 16 with 4 of 8 matches ending with a 5 pin margin or less... plus we had a number of near misses in the first two rounds of the Finals... that was preceded by a very close 'Roll-Off' to break a tie for the last spot in the Finals between Thang Duc Thai and Jerry Hendrickson, who were neck & neck from the 1st frame to the last and finally squeaked out by Thang.  The qualifying was equally close, thanks to some mostly consistent & moderate cut scores of 925, 884, 926 & 926 from both days.  We also came VERY CLOSE to paying another $750.00 (for the 4th straight time at Secoma) from the 9-Tap Jackpot, when Jeremy Truitt had 6 in-a-row (middle) before getting a real strike on his 'Money Shot' (see video).  Instead, the Jackpot got off easy with Aldrin Oriza getting the Consolation with the Front 4 Taps worth $100.00.  Paul Marcello took Top Qualifier honors with his 1050 shot on Saturday, to earn a new 900 Global ball & a 9-Tap Tour Jacket..  Next week, we're looking forward to our "Farewell to the Wood Lanes" Tournament at Paradise Bowl.  They're starting the process of installing their new lanes this week.

Our CR Boger/Miller-Lite Open Champion is Ajay Jarata who becomes our first two time Winner this year, while earning his 3rd Career Title.  After going nearly three years between his 1st Win and #2 (last month), Ajay wasted no time, riding his Hot Streak to #3.  He credits getting lessons from Ed Dolfay and coaching from Nelson Sand and his Dad (Roland Jarata) for his improvement.  But, you usually have to catch a break or two, to make it all-the-way through the Finals.  Ajay survived THREE straight 'near misses' to make it to the Championship Match.  Gus Ramos Jr, Nelson Sand (coach) & Wes Puishis each had the edge going into the 10th frame, but Ajay pulled-out each of those matches.  His match with Gus was the tightest score, with the GREAT battle ending with 253-251 totals, while he and Wes came down to a 209-203 finish.  In the Championship Match, Ajay apparently decided not to wait for another 10th frame squeaker, ripping off a BIG 283 to close out the Title. This time he used his Storm Tropical Heat, also drilled by Ed Dolfay at the Skyway Park Pro Shop, for this win.  Ajay also becomes the youngest Member of our exclusive $10,000.00 CLUB with Career earnings now at $10,362.00 thanks to the $2,303.00 he earned this week.  CONGRATS Ajay!

Newcomer Pierre Rogers joined the Tour in March, he had his best finish yet, taking home $1,070.00 for 2nd Place.  Ironically, Pierre had his biggest game of the day in the Semi's when he shot a 284, only to be taken out himself by Ajay's 283 one game later (two of the higher games shot in the Finals).  Tied for 3rd Place was Wes Puishis & Tom Briskey Jr, both taking home $440.00 for their efforts.  72 year old Wes had an INCREDIBLE string of 4 straight Finals games in the 240's, before running out of gas.  While Tom was also seeking his 2nd Win this year, before succumbing to Pierre's BIG game.
