Tournament Wrap Up

What a GREAT TURNOUT after a 2 week layoff.  Squads 1 and 2 both saw 60+ bowlers competing and squad 3 came pretty close.  The 9-Tap Jackpot had a couple of close calls and for the 5th week in a row our last to cash position saw another tie.

CONGRATULATIONS to Earl Kleist who captured is 9thcareer title by rolling a fantastic 1114 and taking home a checkfor $2,360.00, in his last effort of the day.  It was an uphill battle since Tong Nguyen had set the early pace in the first squad with a nice1031.  Needless to say, Earl knew what he needed to do so he pulled up his pant legs and proceeded to get to business.  Earl finished his final set rolling a300 of his own and never looked back.  Earl threw his 'Super Trooper', drilled by Dave Martin, at Ft Lewis.  What an ideal ball for a Retired Military person.   When asked, Earl will be taking his winnings and will be reinvesting them back into next weeks tournment, at Sounder Lanes (JBLM).  Great Job!!

Our 2nd place winner almost continued the domination of the women winners at Secoma Lanes.  Kathy Johnson made a great run at the title by rolling a beautiful 1088, in the last squad to take home her share of the winnings ($1054.00).  After the effort, she blopped herself down in her chair exhausted but with agreat big smile.  Nicely done!

In 3rd Place was Tong Nguyen.  Rolling a 300, in his first game, and finishing with a strong 1031.  Several people made a run at Tong's series but no one could touch it until the last squad of the day.  Tong still took home a check for $577.00.

CONGRATULATIONS to both Bob Matlock and Mike Leemoui who each were able to collect five (5) 9-Taps in a row to collect $375.00 each and just missing that much allusive 6th 9-Tap.

Just letting the 9-Tap Family know that I was informed by one of our long time members, Larry Tibbett's Sr., that this will be the last 9-Tap Tour event that he will be bowling...as an 80 year old.  Larry turns a young 81 on Sunday.  Happy Birthday Larry!!  I also hear that Judy Buchannon is celebrating a birthday this week also.  Happy Birthday Judy!!  They all just grow up so fast.
