Riverside Lanes - Mt. Vernon, WA
September 29th, 2012
Total Paid Out: $3,574.00
Our biggest Satellite Tournament yet, enjoyed an ideal sets of scores at Riverside Lanes with two 1000+ series and a perfect Cut-Line at 928. We also had a 3-way tie for the 12th spot, causing us to add two extra Cashers to the list. The 'Winner's Pot' used for the Satellite Tournaments pays out 100% of what's collected, so when a bowler in the Top 3 isn't fully in the Pot, that money gets passed down the the 4th Place finisher, as it did Saturday. We thank Riverside Lanes Manager Chris VanEschand his staff who were terrific hosts, providing us a glitch-free afternoon. They were also enthusiastic enough about the 9-TapTour, to ask how soon we might be returning. We may be able to make that arrangement in the near future.
Our 10th straight 1st-Time Champion is Chuck Gonsalez, who also traveled the farthest, coming over from Yakima. Chuck has been making the trip over the Cascades most weekends since joining the Tour last March. Chuck often makes the trip to Tour events with son Joshua and wife Dee. Ironically, Chuck was one of the local Yakima Hosts when we had our last Satellite Tournament at Nob Hill in July. He's been on a 'Hot Streak' lately, finishing 6th last week at Imperial, when he also came within one shot of his first 9-tap 300. This week he put together his Personal Best 4-game series, topping his old high by 47 pins, finishing with an awesome 1038. The$1,086.00 Winner's Share was also a high for a Satellite Tournament. Chuck said that he already spent the Prize Money last week on a new computer for Josh. The ball Chuck used actually belongs in a museum... a 30+ year old Columbia 300'ABC Masters Yellow Dot', drilled at Yakima's Nob Hill Bowl, a few generations ago. Chuck has worked for Champion Cutting Tools for 8 years and also enjoys traveling with his family and singing in church. Chuck says that, "The Tour is an awesome group of people and he enjoys the family feel to it". CONGRATS Chuck on Win #1.
In 2nd Place, Mt. Vernon local Jose Bazan shot the only other 4-digit score with a 1008. Only having $10 in the Winner's Pot cost him a few bucks, but he was excited with the $432.00 he took home. Joe Erck, in 3rd Place, got a little extra money thanks to the Winner's Pot pass down rule, earning $321.00 for his strong 992 series. Joe's been re-learning to bowl after a shoulder injury, so this strong showing is a major step in his comeback. In 4th Place, Minh Tran also kept his recent Hot Streak alive with a nice 985 and pocketed $251.00.
