We were very pleasantly surprised and appreciative, for the number of our Members that made the trek over to Port Angeles Saturday.  The Port Angeles/Sequim locals were supportive as well and quite enthusiastic about hosting the Tour.  With only 2 squads, the 53 entries were an impressive start for our first Satellite Tournament.  We look forward to returning to P.A. in the future and Vern, the Manager at Laurel Lanes, was excited about having us back.  Several of the Peninsula bowlers said that we'd be seeing them at a regular 9-Tap Tour stop real soon.  We also had excellent scoring, right in our target range, with THREE bowlers topping 1000 and a just right Cut-Score of 925.  Tong Nguyen made the trip worthwhile by taking home $100 for his 4-Taps at the beginning of his 1st squad game.  Next week we'll feature our Mom's Day Special Pot, in addition to what's always a BIG Tournament, at Secoma.

 

Winning his FIRST Tour Title, Michael Carlile was as excited as any Champion we can remember.  He won it by shooting his All-Time High series, a solid 1048.  The 70 year old adds to the long list of Seniors who have had great success on the Tour.  The$952.00 Winners share is a healthy payout for a Tournament of this size.  Michael's secret weapon wasn't just his bowling ball, but he also had a long time  close friend (40 years), who lives in Port Angeles, with him at Laurel Lanes to cheer him on.  His other secret weapon was his Roto Grip 'Riot' drilled for him by Fred Mattson at Narrows Plaza.  Still a full-time employee at the US Postal Service, Michael says he also enjoys swimming, horseback riding and walking.  CONGRATS Michael on Win #1!!

 

2nd & 3rd Places were only separated by ONE PIN.  Paul Manngot that one extra pin (1016) and collected $476.00 for his fine series.  Chuck Hufford got the short-end of that pin (1015), earning $267.00 for 3rd Place.  In 4th Place, Kevin Pugh a Port Angeles local, had a shot at a Top 3 finish with one more BIG game.  He nearly cracked 1000 himself, throwing with a nice 995.
