Wrap Up

SPECIAL THANKS to Denny's, 1st Citizens Bank & 900 Global for their sponsorship of this weekends Tournament!  The Finals for this Tournament were 100% Brackets from the 1st Round on.  A total of SIX bowlers got 1st Round 'Byes', the 3 Squad Leaders from Saturday, plus the next 3 highest qualifying scores.  In the 2nd Round (Sweet 16) we had some of the Best & Tightest matches with 213-211, 221-220 & 234-233, which was tough to take if you were on the short end of those scores.  The Tour's two highest Career Earners (Tong & Samson) both went out in that round as well.  The Kent Bowl staff had the machines running smoothly all weekend and the lane conditions produced scores that were right on target.  There was a very nice diversity of high, middle & lower averages on the Cash List again this week.  Magic Bristolwon Top Qualifier honors with his HUGE 1115, earning him the 900 Global 'Freight Train' and the Tour TQ Jacket.  The 9-Tap Jackpot got off relatively easy, paying out$450.00 this week, ($150.00 each) to Jim Reppert, Maribel Abella & Rick Jack, for their 4-Taps.  That left the Jackpot to inch ever closer to Record heights, now at $9,410.00 for the 'Best 3 of 4' at HiLine next week.

After a LONG string of 1st Time Champions, this week produced a 4th Time Champ in Danny Nudelman.  Danny's been in a bit of a slump for awhile, having won his last Title in July 2010 at Hooters Bowl.  His 5 Bonus pins confirm his struggles lately, but he recently spent some time with Fred Mattson at Narrows Plaza, to do some work on his game.  Obviously, his lessons and practice paid-off, IT WORKED!  What a GREAT way to break out of a slump!!  Once Danny got some momentum going in the Finals, he finished the last 3 rounds with HUGE games.  All three of those opponents, in those Final rounds, shot solid games... but Danny was simply Lights Out.  Danny's ball was a Track '300T' drilled by Eric Akioka at Acme Bowl.  Coincidently, Eric's Dad (Roy Akioka) finished in 5th Place Sunday.  The $2,063.00that Danny earned for his Win, push his Career total to $18,097.00.  He plans to use his winnings to take his Mom on a cruise in the near future.  Way to go Danny, CONGRATS on Win #4, which will earn him a rare Gold Champions Shirt.

Coming close to his 2nd Career Title, James Black survived one of those early 1-Pin Victories, to make it all the way to the Championship match.  James leads the 900 Global Bowler of the Year competition, although his lead has been shrinking lately.  He'll take home $936.00 for his 2nd Place finish.  In a Tie for 3rd, were two bowlers who were both looking for their first Tour Title.  Both had First Round 'Byes', thanks to their 1024 & 1001 qualifying scores.  Terry Morton collected $425.00 for his share of 3rd, while Cliff Butler earned $330.00 ($0 Progressive Pot) for his portion.

CONGRATULATIONS to Danny's instructor and former 9-Tap Tour Director Fred Mattson, who set some records of his own last Thursday.  Fred had 35 of 36 STRIKES in the Narrows Buckshooter League for a RECORD 879 Series (300-279-300).  His ONLY non-strike was a 4-pin that he left in his 2nd game.  AMAZING!!!
