It was an extra exciting day, when 8 of the Top 10 finishers were all chasing their 1st Tour Titles, including each of the Top 4,   producing our NINTH STRAIGHT 1st-Time Champion.   The scoring was again very strong at Imperial, with 4 solid scores over 1000 and a reasonable Cut-Line at 925.  The assault on the 9-Tap Jackpot came from every squad, with numerous bowlers stringing 9-Taps.  THREE Members, Roland Jarata - Skip Shear - Mick Hodge, each had the opportunity to throw one ball for $1,000.00(see videos) Saturday.  Each of them had 6-Middle Taps and each came up short on the magic 7th shot.  Skip actually had 7 of the Front 8, missing the Jackpot in the 2nd frame and then missing the $1,000.00 when he missed in the 9th.  Several other bowlers had strings 5 in-a-row (middle).  Those misses left the Consolation Bonus to go to Ken McAllister and Tong Nguyenwho had the Front 4 Taps, good enough for $150.00 each.

Dorrie Quirante FINALLY Wins her first Tour Title and everyone that knows her was excited for her.  The biggest reason so many of her friends and fellow bowlers are so excited for her, is because they all know how long she's REALLY wanted this Title.  It may have been Dorrie's first Win, but she's done very well in her many years on the Tour.  In 2011 she was named the '9-Tap Queen' for earning over $3,000.00 in Jackpot Bonuses.  In addition to all the Jackpot money, she's earned nearly $10,000.00 in Prize Money, along with two 2nd and two 3rd Place finishes in just the last 3 years.  One of those 3rd Place finishes came in the 2010 Year-End Championship Tournament.  Dorrie got so HOT at Imperial, that she shattered her Personal Best series by 67 pins, with a huge 1083.  She accomplished that P.B. by putting 4 consistently solid games together and finishing with a bigger game (250) than she needed for the win, taking the Title by 26 pins.  The Storm 'Nano' that she used was drilled by Chad Turner at Majestic Lanes (Lynnwood), where Dorrie also does her League bowling.  Her big payday of $2,159.00 is already earmarked for a trip to Las Vegas next month, where she can participate in her other hobby... Poker Tournaments.  Dorrie works at the UW School of Medicine, when not playing cards or bowling.  She asked us to give a HUGE THANKS to her good friend Rey Alvarez who she often bowls with and to James Black & Bob Rouse for cheering her on.  CONGRATS Dorrie on the 1st of hopefully many Wins!!!

 

Bob Berryman thought he had enough for his first Title when he shot his 1057.  That score would win on most weeks, and if not for a first game that Bob wished he had a 'do-over', his very nice score could have been much higher.  The $963.00 he earns for 2nd Place, should soothe the wound, but we know the Title would have been more soothing!  James McKelvey had the first round lead with his P.B. series of 1035, taking home $517.00 for 3rd, his best finish yet.  Rick Jack took 4th place with his P.B. 1021 and also won the Scratch Series Pot for an extra $90.00.
