Total Paid Out: $9,636.00
Tournament Wrap Up An excellent turnout Saturday at HiLine, plus a THREE-WAY tie for 30th place, added a 32nd Member to the large Cash List. The $9,636.00 Paid-Out was just shy of this years staggering average payout of $10,243.00per Tournament, which now totals a record $348,247.00 for the year. Speaking of records... the $375.00 paid to Maribel Abella for her 5-Taps, pushed the 9-Tap Jackpot's 2011 payout total over$20,000.00 for the first time. We still have SIX Tournaments left in 2011 to add-on to those amazing numbers! Apparently there is something "Magical" going on with the Quarterly Instructional Clinics. For the 3rd time in 3 clinics, a participant finished either in 1st Place or 2nd Place, the day of the Clinic. Clinic #1 Pat Govert won at Secoma... Clinic #2 Diane Vernon takes 2nd at Pacific, but follows-up with a private lesson from instructor Pat Johns and wins at Roxbury... Clinic #3 Terrence Alford leads after the first squad and holds on for 2nd Place after the morning Clinic... pretty nice track record! It was very nice to see some long-time Tour Members paying us a visit Saturday, Cheryl & John Bustamente who now live in Las Vegas and Lisa Ohm & Rob White who moved to Tucson, all participated at HiLine. Enjoy the 'Bye' week and we'll see you at Skyway Nov. 5th.
Original Tour Member Cecil Abay-Abay (Membership #8) won his 2nd Career Championship, and pushed his Career earnings to over $10,000.00,at HiLine. What made this win such a GREAT story, was the return of his good friend John Bustamente. Prior to the Bustamente's moving to Las Vegas last February, you would regularly see John and Cecil bowling together. Cecil had been on quite a Hot Streak during that time, but since John left, Cecil had been in a little bit of a slump. Saturday's performance, with John visiting, would have to be considered INSPIRED! This week, there were only THREE scores turned in that topped the 1000 mark. Cecil had TWO of them, a huge 1053 to win by 42 pins, to go with a 1007 that would have been enough for 3rd if it counted. That's what I call getting HOT!! Not surprising that Cecil said he, "Wished John & Cheryl could be here every week". Cecil said that his sweet $2,172.00 payday would go toward a trip back home to Hawaii next year and another try in the Tour's Hawaii Region. Cecil drills his own bowling balls and this week he used one of the new Motiv balls. Nice Job Cecil on win #2!!
In 2nd Place, looking for his first Tour Title, was Tour Liaison Committee Member Terrence Alford. He parlayed the confidence he garnered from the Instructional Clinic to a strong 1011, worth a healthy $979.00. That makes FOUR Top 3 finishes for Terrence, who's definitely overdue for that 1st win! In 3rd Place, Eric Smallman shot his best ever series with a 995 and had his best finish since he won the 2011 opening Doubles Tournament. That performance was worth a well earned $530.00. It was really a Family Affair this weekend when you look at the Cash List. Lynn Freeman (4th), Husband Steve Freeman (30th) and Dad Steve Bowyer(29th) all Cashed. As did Husband and Wife Rollie & Maribel Abella(23rd & 30th) and Sister & Brother Ronda Samora (22nd) & Denny Canfield (28th).
