Wrap Up

The Tour has always taken great pride in the diversity of averages on our Cash List. In our Opener, we were perfectly on target with the handicaps ranging from a low 3 pins to a high of 62 pins.  We had our first 9-Tap 300 by Randy Merritt (3rd), with Vernon Nakamoto (12th) just coming in light in the pocket to shoot a 298 right behind him.  Each of them shared the Scratch Pot winning for $70 & $35, respectively.  The 9-Tap Jackpot got off easy with 3 bowlers tying with just 3 Taps, each earning $25.  That leaves the Jackpot to grow to $1,196.00 for Suncoast and the Progressive Pot grew by even MORE, now standing at a huge $1,470.00.

Our Opener had a bit of a Cinderella story, with our Champion Kevin Nurmi returning from a long layoff from Bowling to earn his first, 1st Place finish, of any kind.  Wearing his new Dexter ’Dave’ Sneaker Bowling shoes, along with his Track ‘Strada’ ball, drilled by our friends at Haynes Bowling Supply, Kevin made great use out of his 3rd squad re-entry.  After finding the line on his first entry, Kevin took advantage of the re-entry to shoot the high score of the day. Kevin wants to thank his friends, who also bowled in the tournament and referred him to join the 9-Tap family.   He wants to give special thanks to Joey Cazar for inviting him to the 9-Tap Tour.  Kevin’s winnings of $1,300.00 are going to be used for an upcoming trip to Florida, along with his hobbies and interests that include cars and poker.  Along with taking home 1st Place, Kevin also earned a Strom Revenant Bowling Ball as the Tour Opener Champion.

In 2nd Place, Nicholas Anderson was also new to the Tour and was the leader after the 2nd squad, with his excellent 753 series.  However, Nicholas did leave $200.00 on the table after not getting into the Progressive Pot, but still leaving him with a nice $400 for 2nd Place. After 2 very nice games his 3rd game fell a little short leaving the door cracked open, allowing Kevin Nurmi to edge into 1st by 6 pins. Ryan Merritt improved every game and with a nice 742 Series, held strong with only a 5 pin Hdcp. Finishing like a Champion, with his 9-Tap 300 in the 3rd game, giving him a nice $315.00 3rd place payout, plus an additional $140.00 earned from the Scratch Pot.

Let’s move on to the extra exciting parts.  Our banner boy, Terry Sherman, came in the 3rd Squad to make his appearance and take 4th place overall (see his picture on the LV Tour Banner).
